image.jpgHello,

I've had my new tractor for a coupe of weeks now and have come across an annoyance that maybe some one has a solution to. I have found (twice now) that when I turn myself a bit to the right to watch what I'm doing behind me, my right calf contacts the loader control stick and pushes it back. This lowers the bucket and then raises the front end while I'm concentrating on my task behind me. My short term solution is to lock out the loader control until I need it then re lock it when I'm done. This is kind of a pain so I am looking for ideas. It seems some sort of guard would work. This can be attached to the fender or maybe the sheet metal at the back of the operators platform and then extend out and probably around the shaft to keep me from hitting it. A second possibility, but more complicated one, would be to re design the control shaft itself. The stock one seems to be welded to a plate that is bolted to the loader valve. A new plate and a shaft with different angle might work. I have attached a picture to show what I'm talking about. After the first angle closest to the knob, there is a short 8" or so straight piece to the second bend where it heads towards the back. The part I contact is that 8" straight piece and /or the second bend depending on my position.

Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

John

Vacman,

I have the same problem on my B2650. In fact, the paint on my control stick is worn off at the lower bend area from my right calf rubbing on it all the time. I don't have a solution but will be watching this thread. Thanks for bringing this topic up.

Regards,
Duber

You may not like this but.....
Cut and weld, or oxy and bend etc, work out which part you need moved and move it.
Early Toyota landcruisers had the gear shift come down just about against the seat in fourth gear, oxy to the bottom of the shift leaver and bend the stick forwards made changing gears further forwards, but out of the way of seat and passenger.
Same will work here, it can be done neatly, get some fence wire and make a template of where you want the stick to go, so it ends up in the same hand position as it is now, but routed out of the way. Then remove the stick and cut and/or bend to the shape of the fence wire (adding some rod if necessary) and you will enjoy the result. If possible get some slightly better grade rod than mild steel to add to it so it doesn't bend.

Thanks for that suggestion. I see that as being a sure fire solution but of course it's the most difficult. When looking at it I can visualize a better route for the shaft that should work as long as the operation of it remains the same. I'm not sure if I have the skills to tackle something like this. I can probably make a model of it but making the permanent shaft might be beyond me. While looking at it, I have a couple of ideas for a guard that will go around the shaft but it will still have a full range of motion. I don't know how soon I'll get around to working on this though. I'm tied up with a hundred other projects so this one is fairly far down the list. Thanks.

I don't like that at all !! Sure is alot of bends in that control handle. I would be finding a way to move the valve up to the loader frame.
