I was working with the backhoe yesterday, had the tractor positioned on a hill with the front end pointed downhill. I thought I had a leaky fitting, but closer inspection revealed the oil in the front axel was leaking out of the vent. Has anyone had this happen to them? Normal? I'm assuming it's normal, but doesn't seem right to me. Hill was steep, but not excessively so. Tractor was in that position for a few hours. I've been on the steep hills plenty of times, but never for this length of time.

Any thoughts?

Check the fluid level ... if it is overfilled and you have not added any then you may have taken in water. That would account for the over fill and the leakage at the vent. If it is not overfilled, you were on a very steep incline...
