Anybody on here with a B2620 or similar size, use a 5ft rotary cutter? Is that too much weight for this tractor?

Thanks for the input

As long as it's a lighter duty cutter you won't have any trouble. I pulled a light duty 5' Bush Hog (brand) with my little B7410 without any problems. The 7410 only weights 1250 lbs bare and all I had was three suitcase weights on the front totaling about 130 lbs.

I have a B2920 and a Bush Hog brand Squeeler - 60". It spins it fine and I rarely have to slow down when cutting. The biggest frustration is with the quarter inch valve system, the front of the mower will sag down gradually while you mow, so you have to keep looking back and bumping it up to keep it from dragging. But I would not want to go down to a 48" because it would only varily cover my tracks and would not allow me to get as close to tree lines. I leave the loader on to balance the weight and it does ok with it.

My concern with the 48 in cutter is that is will just cover my tracks. Been reading a lot on here looking at folks attachments and see where a lot of folks are running 5ft cutters and 5ft box blades.

I also have a 5' box blade for the same reason you mentioned, I wanted it to cover my tracks. You have to tweak the top link to adjust how much it is digging though because if you get too agressive(top link too short) it can stop you in your tracks. Mostly because you run out of traction more than power.

Like I said, I would not want a 48" cutter either, maybe a 54", but they are pretty rare. My dealer let me try the 60" on mine in their lot to make sure it was ok. I tried also a lighter duty Bush Hog, but it was considerably lighter built and only a 1 year warantee on the gear box, so I went with the Squeeler. Given a choice, if I am sure of where I am mowing is free of rocks and othe debris, I still prefer the MMM. But we have some recreational property that we are still clearing so needed the rough cut mower for it.

I had a Landpride rotary cutter (believe it was a 1860 model), it seemed a little too heavy for the b2620, you either needed your FEL or weights in the front to use it. I did have hills to mow on so that could of been part of the problem. I had the same problem with the mower not staying at the height I set it at. If I would of kept the mower I would of made guide wheels for the front the the deck.

I was lucky enough to get the big stuff mowed before selling, I can keep it down now with a MMM or a Landpride rear finish mower.

My other comments from experience with the rough cut mower, when you 1st engage it and let the clutch out, you will feel it shake the tractor as it starts to swing those big blades. But once they get spinning, it is suprisingly smooth and not that noisy from the driver's seat. I alway have the engine at idle when I engage the PTO and let the clutch out and then once the blades have reached their speed for that engine RPM, I bring up the engine RPM to PTO speed. I think this puts less stress on the tractor.

Where I notice the weight is when I have the mower up to move to a different part of the property. The weight of the Mower is carried way back due to the overall length of the mower, so that is why keeping the FEL on helps to stabilize it and make it not so bouncy. But still you feel like the tail is wagging the dog.
