Tires B2410 Which tires for my use?

I think that I will be ordering a B2410 this week with a 60 in. MMM. I will be finish mowing 4 acres lawn and mowing 6 acres field. Land rather rolling and some areas hilly land. What are the best tires for me, turf or other. I don't want to damage the lawn or put additional ruts in the field. Also do some pulling with wagon and will add FEL.Thanks, E

would need a little more info to give u a sound opinion, i.e what type of ground? will u be plowing snow? what do u intend for the use of the fel? if all u are doinf is cutting grass then turfs are fine, but anything requiring more traction might need r4"s or such. any tire in 4wd, with soft ground or sharp turns will scuff the lawn.

I took delivery of my 2410 a couple of weeks ago. The dealer pushed the turf, but I went with the R4's. Really wanted the ags, but I knew they were too aggressive.

Anyway, here's what I found. I like the R4's for the added traction. If the ground is at all wet they help, and the help with the FEL or blade. Why not to get R4's...well, in some spots, I have spun the week and created a nice little rut. I personally don't really care because it is all field grass right now. If you have a nice lawn, the R4's might be hard on it. It really comes down to what's more important-a perfect looking lawn, or the added traction.

If you have hills that are greater than a 5% grade then the turf tires may spin if the grass is wet. I know this from experiece. I now use the R4 tires and they don't slip. My lawn goes from flat to 8% grade and the tires are perfect in wet and dry. They work even better when loaded with anti-freeze.

The Ag tires will dig up the lawn. I know that from experience too.

I have R-4's. I really think they are a great fit. I use my tractor in the yard most of the time, and they do fine.

I talked to the Kubota dealer again today and though I haven't ordered yet we have "agreed" that R4's might be the best for my use, as most of you have pointed out. He also said that if we are unhappy with the R4's after we have used them on our land he will exchange them for turfs. Sounds O.K. with me. E

As I recall, R4 tires are much more expensive than Ags and Turfs. If anyone can prove me incorrect, please speak up. But as I remember, the tires are not a dollar for dollar swap. You might want to conact a second dealer and ask about the cost of a full set of turfs vs a full set of R4s. Note: each set of tires gets its own associated set of rims. The rims for Turfs won't work with R4 tires.

I am not sure under what circumstances you would need Agg tires. I guess if you have very muddy and/or swamp areas you would need that aggressive a tire. So the usual choice that most of the postings talk about is turf vs R4.

No matter what, I think the lesson that I have learned in a lot of these threads is that traction is king. You can be under powered and still get the job done, just may take longer. But no traction means being unable to do what you want.

So if you can say that turf tires would give me all the traction I need, then you have your answer. Otherwise R4 is it.

i cannot speak specifially for the 2410 since it has been so long, but as for the 2910 there is a $2 difference between terfs and r-4s. it surprised me too. when i bought my 2410 the dealer told me the price was minumal and he would change the price either way.

Hmm, I wonder how "dealer dependent" this tire price issue is. I have been told that the price for R4 tires on the B2400/B2410 is significantly higher than that of the turfs.

Oh well...
