I have a 1998 B2400 with 860hrs on it and suffering some trouble with the hydraulic system. I changed the fluid, filter and suction screen and it seemed a little better. everything works good when first started but after about half an hour the power steering and endloader start getting weak. I've also noticed that the fluid temp appears to be awfully high. When running endloader the control valve gets hot enough to be very uncomfortable to the touch and today with the loader disconnected and just mowing, the loader valve was so hot you couldn't touch it. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any and all responses!! (I have taken it to dealer but after three days they sent it back to me and said they were waiting to hear back from kubota and to go ahead and use it!?)

I am taking a stab at it, and its a big guess. I am in no way a hyraulics expert. Could there be too much fluid with the extra pressure causing excess heat? Just a thought so I thought I'd mention. Good Luck!

I don't think so, fluid level is at the top mark on dip stick which manual says is normal range. Thanks for reply!!

i have the same tractor 98 b2400, have not experienced that problem. wonder why the dealer could not find the problem? that seems kind of odd /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif i wonder if u don't have a valve that is constantly releiving, that would cause loss of lift and create a lot of heat. but would think the dealer should have been able to find that. please let us know what u find out.

My faith has slipped with the dealer too. They picked it up monday night.. called tuesday afternoon said a Kubota rep was there and checked it out and suspected as you the relief valve was sticking. they said they would hook it up to some guages the next day(WED). Called Wed. and was told that they looked at it again and they would be putting the guages on it the next day(Thurs). Needless to say I got a little upset with my sales man and requested something to mow my yard with since my recent purchase was busy taking up space in there shop! Thursday night they brought my 2400 back and said they were waitng for a call from kubota and when they here back they would call, pick mine up and fix it. I hope it doesn't self destruct while waiting for this call!! Thanks for the reply!

A quick check, try moving the 3PH control so the arms move off full up. The full up adjustment may be out of adjustment causing the relief valve to be open all the time.

Well, does your tractor have SUDT or at least UDT? Does it have possibly contaminated fluid. Condensation--infrequent use?? Well, anyway, today I made a point of touching my loader valve while mowing--YEP--as expected--it is very hot. Did I say it is HOT /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif? I am not sure what is wrong with your unit--was it bought used?--but I suspect bypassing fluid somewhere. J

Did The dealer tell you what he kind of pressure readings he got? Does the engine seem like its loaded down when you run it (wondering if its an hst problem, don't know if your unit is hst)? Do you hear anything odd (a high pitched whistle or whatever) when you run it? How long has it been doing this?

Sounds like a flow restriction like others have mentioned, causing alot of friction and heat. I wonder if its in the fel valve, power steering, or a remote valve, if you have remotes.
Hope this helps. Good luck, I hope you find the problem.

The Manual says Super UDT($$$), so thats what I put in it. The three point was all the way down in the float position so I don't believe thats the problem. The call from Kubota came thru and they seem to think that the power steering is in bypass,But I haven't heard the noise ( high pitched squeal) from the bypass. Engine doesn't seem to be under constant load so I'm back to square one....Lost!!! It goes back to the dealership tommorow, Kubota told them of some other tests to run to isolate the problem. I'll keep everyone posted on the results. Thanks to all for your responses and concern. I've gotten more ideas and answers from you than the dealership

Howdy All!! I just got off the phone with the dealership and I'm not too happy. Mechanic says that all pressures were in spec and oil temp holds a steady 180( guess thats pretty hot to the touch!) but well within kubota's recommended range. Looks like I have to live with poor power steering and weak endloader performance. I do have a friend who is knowledgeable about hydraulics and am going to consult with him. Also checked price for new pump and that's Approx. $450,but if pressure is correct this probably isn't the answer. With hydraulics I believe pressure is power and volume is speed. Enough whining for know , if any progress is made I'll update via this thread. Thanks everyone!!
