My 2400 tends to whine a little (as does the rest of the family but that's another topic) when I first engage the tranny going in either direction. Is this normal for these hydros? It appears to work ok, the fluid level is full and the fluid is clear and clean.

Thanks for any insight.

It's hard to adequately describe, just with the printed word, a sound, so we can't really say if the whine you hear is normal, but I'd say there's a 90+% chance that it's normal. The hydros do whine.

That's second nature to a HST>they all do it.

Thanks. That makes me feel better. I was a little uncomfortable buying a used tractor but couldn't justify (or afford) spending $16k on a new one for my massive 7 acre ranch!

I own both street and dirt motorcycles, fourwheeler (ATV) jetski, a camper, a Jeep, and am a licensed pilot. I am having more fun with this tractor than any other toy in the arsenal!!!!!!!
