When looking at prices online, it looks like I can afford a B2301, but when I get a quote from a dealer, it's a lot more than expected. Is this common?

For example, on the Kubota website (Tractors), it says zero down, zero percent, but when I get a quote, it looks like there's almost $2700 of insurance added if you finance plus about $600 in fees. And every price is more than what's listed on the Build My Kubota website. (The B2301HSD0-1 on the website is $15488, the dealer quote is $16,500) Is this typical?

I guess it comes down to I want a tractor with a loader and mower (a B2601 would be nice), what would I expect to pay? My quotes are coming in at over $25,000.

It's a bad time to be buying anything.

Manufacturing is behind, demand is up, inflation has gone ape$h/t

It can't last. If it were me (kinda is) I'd wait it out. Maybe a year or into this Winter at the earliest

As to Dealer Fees, etc? They all do it. Some are worse than others.

The only answer is to shop, shop and shop some more

This is an odd time in the tractor market.

  • Tractors are in relatively short supply due to supply chain problems.
  • Dealers have very little inventory.
  • Dealers and customers with submitted-to-factory orders report waiting four or more months for delivery.
  • Consumer demand seems to be fairly strong.
  • Spring is the busiest three month period for tractor sales.
  • Dealers are independent businesses which charge whatever price they feel is in their interest. Dealers without an established service and repair clientele are taking loans to keep the doors open.
  • Web site prices are MSRP.

For the consumer, things may be better during October-November-December.

When I get a quote, it looks like there's almost $2,700 of insurance added if you finance.
You must have insurance if you finance. The default is KTAC insurance. I had good experience with KTAC over two claims in nine years. KTAC cost is around $1.30 per $1,000 value of tractor on contract per year.

KTAC = Kubota Tractor Acceptance Corporation.

There are many good tractor brands out there. Shop wider.

The large amount is probably a finance charge but
they say no interest for 84 months??

If you finance almost anything, the loan has to be secured with insurance. Otherwise, people would crash them and simply walk away from the loan.

$32 a Month for insurance isn't bad. Not great, but not bad either. The extra added to the MSRP is likely shipping and assembly. Not the end of the world.

Add in whatever Kubota charges the Dealer in co-op for the no interest loan ($400 - $1000? [money ain't free]) and Dealer Fees for paperwork, doc stamps, loan fees and --There you are.

Maybe your price is high. dunno

Try to get them to break it down for you So you can see an itemized list of what you're paying for.

When I was looking at Kubota a few years ago, the local dealer prices were about 15% higher than the build site. The dealer told me prices were "regional and determined by the dealer"..... the build site was only "manufacturers suggested price".....

It occurs with all brands. It will occur with the same brand, but different dealers.

As Jeff says: search further.... search other brands.... search other dealers.

Yeah, really bad time to buy. Lord help you if you need a car or truck. Crips, even appliances have skyrocketed. Or anything manufactured for that matter.
