Hi, I have a B2150 with a LA350A loader and have noticed if I park the tractor with the loader raised up off the ground a foot or so, that after a period of time the loader drops down to the ground. It might take 4 hours or so, but it drops. I feel that there might be some sort of "leak" in a by-pass or something. I don't see any external leakage.

What do you all think? Is this normal or do I have a problem?

Thanks, Tim

Hi Tim. I had the same combo until last year and mine did the same. Usually overnight it might drop about 6 or 8 inches. Everyone says it's normal. Called leakdown. My dealer said there were limits to what is considered normal so you might check and see if you're in those limits. My new B2910 and L3010 will do the same over time though not as fast as the B2150.

Tim, I tried to do a search, but must have entered the wrong words because I didn't find the prior discussions on this topic. However, as bsauter says, this can happen and depending on the speed with which it falls, it may or may not be "within specs." Just don't leave it up where it might fall on something that could be damaged. The fact that it's lowering on its own means that there's a small leak either in the seals of the cylinders or back through the control valve.

Tim, Yeah, sure enough it is normal. Is just oil leaking by the seals in the hydraulic cylinders. Is an 'internal' leak. No big deal. Except for the larger issue. My Dad would have kicked my butt if I left anything 'hanging on the hydraulics'. You love your baby, why put the strain on her seals if you're not using her? Only time he'd permit it was when the starter was out and then we had to put a 2x4 under the implement. Unless there was a specific need, we were always taught to lower the implement if the engine wasn't running. My 2 cents for longer seal life and general good tractoring.

Like Bird and MDnick said and I should have added. I always lower my loader and 3 point attachment whenever I turn off and walk away. Saves stress but also I have two little kids and my boy might climb up someday and move a lever and lower something on his sister. Don't want that to happen!! Can't be too careful.

I wholeheartedly agree to drop the hydraulics anytime the tractor is unattended. Don't get me wrong, this is my standard practice because I have two young kids as well and I have always had a picture of them getting on the Bota and dropping the belly mower on a foot or the bucket on someone. So Yes.... I DO drop the imnplements. This time I left the bucket raised up a little because the "Shop" was coming to get the tractor for svc work. I wanted to make sure they didn't start moving the tractor with the bucket down and take out chunks of my brand new asphalt driveway. I know it can be done, I did it once. I am MUCH more careful now. But thanks for all your feed back and concern.

I have the same combination of B2150 and LA350A loader.

Mine will do as you describe also.

Additionally, my loader will leak down when mowing for extended time periods. When I have the loader adjusted to there I want it for mowing operations, I have to raise it slightly (2-3"?) about once every hour. I've always considered this normal.

The 3-point hitch, on the other hand, will apparently hold its load up for several days. I did this once unintentionally.
