I made it! Imported a used B21TLB (2003, 420 hrs) from US to Sweden.
The EU market for compact tractors with hoes is quite limited. And the prices are much higher than the US prices. So importing did not seem to be a bad idea.
I found the machine at Carver Equipment, Dunn NC, and contacted Steve. The price was USD 19000 and could - of course - not be discussed across the ocean. Payment was done by wire. Steve took care of the transportation to Portsmouth VA and the export paperwork. He kept me well informed during the whole process. The tractor was shipped as ro/ro cargo with Atlantic Container Line which has a very nice cargo tracking facility on the internet. So I could watch my tractor coming closer every day - a very easing activity for the nerves...
Two months after the deal was closed it arrived at my backyard. No surprises! The total freight cost amounted to USD 1650.
So the total was USD20650. Not cheap in the US I guess. But USD6000 less than the best offer I got at home for a 2002 model with 1000hrs.
So my view is that private import can be recommended as long as the USD is weak in relation to the Euro and the market prices in US an Europe so different. And Steve did a good job for me, he is recommended!
