B1550 Won't Start

My B1550 has decided not to start. The Battery is fine and fully charged. When I turn on the key, the dashboard gauges operate properly. But when I turn the key to the glow plug position, nothing happens (e.g. the glow plug light does not come on) and if I try to start it, nothing happens. When I turn the key off, I hear a strange 'whining' for a couple of seconds.

Any ideas what is wrong? Could it be a faulty fuel pump?

G'day i would be cleaning all of your battery leads for starters don't forget to clean the ground leads where they mount to the chassis/block. A faulty fuel pump should not stop the engine from cranking over.
