I just had a serious repair to my 2008 l3540. My propeller shaft seal at the tranny was leaking profusely! MB Tractor performed the repair at half the cost of quotes from local dealers here in massachusetts! Thank you MB Tractor, you guys are awesome!!!!!

Great update, glad it worked out for you. I just traded my 2008 L3240 because I was worried about the same thing happening to me. Seems they all start to leak at some point.

Jerry at the plowstow store took great care of me. The tech who performed the repair went into great detail of the repair process, he has done many and has a procedure that is actually better than factory!

Which MB did you go to, Plaistow or Tilton?

Yup, we all know who they are and thats ok. I actually had them do some work on my machine last year, replace battery, check vavle clearance, etc I was pleased with the work they did and the bill was not as painful as i thought it was going to be. Bottom line is it takes money to make money. I saved so much going to mb i was able to replace my front tires that were original from 2008 with 1200 hours on them! I had the propeller shaft seal replaced, Front shaft seal at the transfer case replaced, the rear tranny cover replaced, full hydraulic service, front tires and toe in, 3 new ratchet binders and a toy for my grandson for $2650.00 I think that is a fantastic price! The good news is, after picking up the machine and hauling it back to massachusetts friday 10 7 16 in holiday Traffuk, i hauled her out to core aerate 14 acres. The billing for the aerations will cover the repair bill so the way i look at it is, im even steven and my machine is in tip top shape for fall work and winter snow removal.

Interesting dialog. Cost/price is one thing but over the years I have learned to deeply appreciate a GOOD dealer. A good dealer is there when you need him, does his level best to keep your machine out of service for the minimum time, but above all knows what he is doing. You get a dealer reasonably accessible for your location who meets those criteria and cost/price is not the overwhelming factor. I realize you did not say cost was the only issue, just wanted to fill in comment on importance of other things.

$2600.00 to aerate 14 acres sounds high, however, think of whats actually involved from start to finish. Frist off, the truck,tractor,trailer & aerator represent a $90000.00 investment. By the time i load up, haul to jobsite. unload, perform the aeration and clean up, reload and haul back to my shop, its a full days work. The aerator weighs 1500 lbs so theres some diesel burn between the trucking and aerating, theres a large insurance policy that goes where i go. Theres also the pro factor. company lettered truck & machine, safety cones, licensed operator in uniform, etc. My pricing may seem high to you, but clients can get other estimates. Bottom line is i have invested heavily in my equipment and after 39 years in turf management, im not going to jump out of bed and work my ***** off to be low bidder!
