Hey guys and gals. I am curious if anyone has any ideas how to build a gravel drag? I am currently using a 6 inch piece of I beam it works great for leveling and smoothing things out but I am trying to maintain a crown to my driveway and the straight piece of I beam seems to just flatten the crown out. I was thinking of maybe cutting a i beam in half at a 45 degree angle then welding them together to make a V shape and seeing if that would help pull gravel to the centre better. Any ideas or pictured would be appreciated

Thanks

A smaller scale of this ...

I built a drag out of 4"x 4" timbers. Its a square about 5' by 5' with the timbers notched so the corners sit flush. Reinforced by an X-framework across the top to keep it from wracking. Eye bolt on two corners - drag it with ropes attached to ATV trailer hitch.

Its not heavy enough to do any real damage - just right to smooth out gravel driveway and tilled patch just prior to planting.

Thanks for the ideas guys. Has anyone actually built drag for a atv that would do what I'm asking

I have not seen a drag as you describe. Probably because its been tried and doesn't work or nobody has tried it yet. To keep the crown in my gravel driveway - I drag/pull the implement - land plane grading scraper, rear blade, box blade or gravel drag up one half/side, then back down the other. The rear blade moves the top material - horizontally - the best. The land plane grading scraper makes the surface the smoothest and the box blade is used to move large amounts of material.

Certainly if there were an implement around that did as you want - we would have heard of it and somebody would be making a fortune.

Did you not notice the adjustable tail wheel in my video? That holds the crown side up and maintains the crown.

put some weight on one side of the beam to make it heavier or a ski or wheel at the high side so it desnt dig in as much to form a crown... kinda low tech but worth an effort
