ATV Flail Mower - picture this

Several people have asked to see a picture of my flail mower so I'm posting one here.

Pretty neat. Do you have a website with info about the mower?

Sorry, no website, but the basics are: Its an Alamo -- same brand as commonly found mowing the ditches of the Interstate -- built by Mott. It has an 11HP Honda engine on it and cuts a 48" swath. I replaced the original hitch (a "universal" hitch that universally didn't fit anything) with a regular ball type hitch which has worked well with my ATV. It has very heavy grade steel and components -- the thing is rock solid. It makes quick work of the lawn. It worked well in some parts of my fields but not others -- depended on the height of the grass. It would take out brush but not really tall grass. Might have worked better if I drove slower, but... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

What's the range on cutting height?

It cuts a height of about 2 to 6 inches. Actually, when I got it it had 12" wheels/tires on it which I found too small for field work. So I had the current wheel/tire set installed to make it roll better over rougher ground and to raise it up a bit -- which worked really well. Theres a series of three holes on the ends where the axel brackets bolt on and that's how you set the height. You can see the bolt and hole set to the right of the tire in the picture.

Here's Alamo's website, but I can't see the exact model on the site. Anyone know the model number?

I don't think Alamo offers the self-powered models anymore. As for the model number, I'll have to look it up -- but this is the bigger of the two they offered (5' cut I believe) plus it has the upgrade to the Honda engine.

Actually, since I got my tractor I haven't used it that much and even listed it for sale on the classifieds in this site. I don't want to violate any policies by discussing a sale in this forum but I'll send you a message if you don't mind.
