Attaching a Backhoe to the 3-Point Hitch on a Mahindra 5555

We bought a WoodMaxx 8600 that attaches to the 3-point hitch on our Mahindra 5555. The WoodMaxx looks like a good value for the money but I have a question about hooking it up. An adjustable bar is provided to replace the top link, but the mounting hole in the bar is smaller than the pin in the mounting bracket on the Mahindra. WoodMaxx suggested using bushings on the tractor. I was thinking about having the hole on the bar machined larger.

A second problem is the draft linkage. I do not want to attach the backhoe to the bracket that regulates the draft. Seems to me that would tear it up. The bracket on the tractor to which the draft linkage is affixed looks far stronger. Removing the draft link however looks like a pain. How do you experienced tractor backhoe operators do it?

I don't know if Woodmax offers it but you would be much happier with a sub frame mount back hoe.

I think I would go with the bushings to preserve the strength of the provided bar. Don't have a clue on your second problem. Please post how you solve as I am expecting the arrival of a 3 point backhoe myself.

I have a 665 brushog backhoe 3pt mount I had to make a bushing for the backhoe due to the hole being to big . As far as the draft control bracket goes when you set the outriggers down right they take the pressure of that area and is has not caused any problems. if you horse it around your asking for trouble.

I have family in Grapeland and Elkhart. Mostly out at Parker Cemetery now though. As a young man my father grew up in Houston County.

Be very careful with using a 3point backhoe. They are well known for breaking 3point links and can run into some warranty issues

I have 3pt backhoe, works fine. I am gentle, I don't jerk it around, often run at reduced throttle.

yup, I broke a vertical link AND the top link at different times. When the top link let's go, it's an interesting ride, especially when you're at the top of a freshly dug 6 ft deep hole.

Weeeeeeeeeee ! Lotsa fun !

It's a good thing that the bh control levers had round knobs on them, for my stomach and chest's sake. Just ended up with a few bruises.
