I'd love a PTO-powered wood chipper, but I can't justify the cost.

Lately I've been thinking my Harbor Freight 6.5 HP Chipper Shredder would be a lot more handy if I could mount it to a 2" receiver or SSQA.

Anybody ever done anything like that?

2" receiver would be handy on either the front or back of my BX, or on the RTV500.

Can’t see why not. You might want to consider two other options, build / obtain a rear 3ph platform to transport your chipper & other tools to the job site or fabricate a holder that would allow you to detach the chipper easily without tools (think hooks for the axle to set on and something for the handle to latch on during transport.

Looks like the chips fall under the unit...I'd rig a more substantial trailer frame and tow it to the job site.
I know it says it'll handle up to 3", but I don't think 6.5 HP is going to do well with that. Twigs and such...yeah, but that's about it.

Do you already have the 2" receiver on a SSQA attachment?

If so, maybe just strap it onto a Hitch Carrier? - https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200623837_200623837
(note that this particular model is only 1" wider than the chipper you posted, which should be perfect, in theory)

The hitch carrier would obviously mount on your UTV as well, and the open floor of the carrier would allow the chips to fall right through.

The chipper ejects out the side.

I have been toying with the idea of strapping it onto a pallet and moving it around with pallet forks.

I do have a couple different Hitch carriers, including a Harbor Freight 500 lb Capacity Aluminum Mobility Wheelchair And Scooter Carrier.

Another thought was maybe something like the Heavy Hitch Hitch'N Can mount.

A while back I needed to fit several trees into a 40yd dumpster. I bought the chipper / shredder for around $400 to avoid a 2nd $350 dumpster fee.

Lately I'll toss sticks from 5 different locations into a 5x10 dump trailer. Once I have enough to bother, I'll either fire up the chipper or dump them for $6/yd at the local landscape supply.

I was just thinking there might be some advantage to driving around with the chipper instead of driving around with the trailer. Bring the chipper to the sticks, instead of bringing the sticks to the chipper.

I'm not sure I have a picture of location where I've been running the chipper. The is the RTV500 parked down there though. I think the chipper does a pretty nice job.

Also pictured is a Honda self-propelled mower, AI Power 1600W generator, and Harbor Freight 15 Gallon Spot Sprayer.

Of course, now I found a picture. It's amazing how many branches it takes to produce a little mulch.
