ASV sold to Yanmar

Yes indeed ASV was sold to Yanmar.. Is that good? Someone had earlier told be CAT had bought them out but that was not the case. Cat just purchased the runner gear patent to built there own.

i dont think think that would be a bad thing, yanmar has been making engines and tractors for many many years and they are not junk - my cousin owns an asv SR-80 it has a perkins engine in it same as my volvo, they added a turbo to it and its in their RC-100 for some reason i was thinking they were owned by Terex. I love the perkins engine, i have owned three of them ( same model ) in 3 different SS and they are stout and fuel efficient. They start well in the cold and are full of torque. I have yet to drive a SS that has the brute power digging into a pile and turning that the perkins has. I dont like the smaller displacement engines with a turbo to make them look good on paper. I have driven about every brand and the closest thing i ran with that kind of power/torque was a 963 and TL140.

I like my yanmar in my Deere its a good runner, I have had three different ones. No issues with any of them. The bogey wheels on the ASV are higher maint and more $$$ to maintain but they sure ride better than a straight track.

I guess yanmar wants to break into the SS market outside of just selling folks engines to put in their equipment. I would not be afraid to buy one, yanmar has a good reputation from what i know of them.

Wow, that's great. That means more dealers for their tractors and a greater presence overall in the US. Yanmar makes great products and I want to see them grow and succeed to keep Deere and Kubota honest.

Love my ASV (Terex branded) PT70... Great machine. Good for Yanmar. They had previously sold track machines that were twins of Gehl units when Manitou was making the Gehl/Yanmar machines (after the build deal by Takeuchi expired).

The newer ASV machines mainly run Cummins branded engines.

The Perkins branded engine you guys are referring to (804c-33t which is in my machine also) is actually a Mitsubishi S4S. Same engine as the cat 3044t.
