I have an unusual problem. I have a bogged down RC100. I lowered the carbide cutter all the way to the ground, and got out through the front door. The RC100 sank a couple inches after I got out, but the cutter did not sink, and so the hydraulic arms got pushed up a little and now I can't open the front door to get back in.

I am trying to figure out how to get out of this mess short of pulling myself out with another machine.

Can I remove the rear window and crawl in through the back? If so, can i reinstall the window after I get out of the bog?

Will a 8,000 pound rated winch be able to pull me out of the bog?

Is it not possible to put a hydraulic jack on a large base plate under the front of the machine and lift it back up the couple of inches ? If the base plate does not sink , the front of the machine will rise and the arms will stay down as there will be a slack spot in the rams from where they crept up (if not you can loosen the lift ram hoses a little to allow a bit of oil to leak out) . You could then open the door . What are you intending to do once in ? Has the area dried out enough that you can drive it out ? Your 8,000lb winch may help with the aid of two snatch blocks to multiply the pull . I have been stuck like that before , sometimes you can drop the mulcher off which takes all the weight off the front end and then drive the machine out . Then snig the mulcher to dry ground with a chain .

I will try the jack idea. I think I have enough wood crammed under the treads that if I can get back inside the cab and fire it up, I can uses my winch to assist me and back out. But I need to get in the cab to raise the lift/cutter head off the dirt. I also need to get in the cab to drop the cutter off.

Do you know anything about that back window? Is it hard to put back in place after it is removed?

balrog,

Take the hinges off the front door then slide in through the opening. Be careful because the door is extremely heavy! There are wires that connect the windshield wiper so be careful not to rip them loose. My PT-100 has a quick release pin on both hinges for the the very problem you are experiencing.

Good luck.

I don't have a rc-100 but have used a rc-60 the door was remove and i had to use a piece of metal [utility knife blade] to cover up the metal contact point on the to right side where the door shuts.

I assume the 100 has a similar contact so make sure you cover it up or your machine will not run.

My PT-100 also has a metal contact switch on the left side of the door frame. It is a contact switch that can be bypassed by simply applying pressure. I completely removed my door one time when I was stuck in mud and held the contact switch with a piece of duct tape...worked great. I put the door back in place as soon as I was unstuck.

It being a RC it probably has a regular door, even if it has a forestry door it is pins that you should be able to pick the door up and remove.

I think you need to re read what i said . Once you jack up the front of the machine you should be able to open the door and get back in to start it up . This should negate the need to remove the back window .
