ASV RC 100 heater and air conditioning problem

My heater and air conditioning does not work on my 2005 machine ever since I bought it used. When I turn on the air conditioning unit the compressor kicks in but no cold air. I have no warm air when I turn the heat on.
Any ideas on how to isolate and trouble shoot this problem would be appreciated.

are you saying that the fan doesnt work/blow not allowing air to the cab?? look at the fuse for the blower fan, if that works start looking for coolant lines to the cab for the heater core, feel them for heat. as far as the a/c, lets go back to step one, does your fan work. where i am, i wouldnt be needing a/c for about a good 6 months or so...lol.

The fan works for both air and heat. The problem is that I get neither heat or air. I do not need either as I am located in the NW and just need a windshield wiper! I will check to see if the heater hoses get warm. I think I have some type of check valve that is closed or does not open. I do not need to fix this problem but it bugs me not to have things that do not work and the reason remains a mystery. Thanks for your prompt response.
