Artic Cat ATV\'s

I have a customer who is a atv dealer who is in need of one of my machines and has offered to trade me a new artic cat 400 atv on one of my machines. I currently own a mid 80's suzuki 125 which was one of the 1st 4-wheelers they made. Needless to say the machines have changed considerably in nearly 20 years and I don't have a clue as to which brands are good units now as far as dependability and resale. I told my better half about the possible trade and she still has strong feelings for the old suzuki (even tho it was built with only the tires and your back as a suspension) so I'm looking for some info and comments good or bad on the Artic cat...........Thanks in advance.......TOM

I have no experience with Artic Cat but... I have a 2003 Honda Foreman ES and wouldn't trade it for any other brand. You probably can't even imagine how much four wheelers have changed since your Suzuki was made. Mine is a 450, has push button gears and you can switch it from 2wd to 4wd with a thumb switch.
My feelings are that most new four wheelers are great machines, I just happen to know first hand that Honda's are great!
Maybe someone on here has an Artic Cat and can give you first hand facts.

The artic cat has the push button 4x4 and also has a high / low range lever left of the fuel tank. It's also totally auto with no gears to shift.........Good ?? or bad ?? Would it still have engine braking on the downhill trips ??? The old suzuki is a auto clutch but manually shifted............TOM

I've got a good friend that sells them and we bought one from him last year. He had a big closeout and gave me the machine at a great deal and put on the front and back racks for free for. I've been happy with it. It's been a little over a year now and no problems with it at all.
