I might have been once but don't think I am anymore, if I were one to begin with. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

How about you?

Chinese, Japanese, who hoo, look at these...where did I hear that?

Whatdayathink? If you see a jinma(for example), do you look down on it?

Lots of value there for the dollar spent me thinks... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Green is good. Orange rules. Red rocks...and the beat goes on...

So how about you? Is your tractor THE brand? Me? I have realized that the only bad tractor is the one that doesn't run.

I must admit that I got a PM from homebrew2 that promted this post...and as much as I hate to admit it...I've concluded that I AM a "beer snob"... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif But likely NOT a tractor snob, at least not these days... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Beer is definetly a touchy item. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just wish My Buget allowed for purchase of the ones I like or my ambitions would again include some home brewing! : /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I've got a short list of models I'm partial to. They come from 3 different brands.

I buy tractors with the intention of keeping it long term. I like brands that have made a long term commitment. Some newer brands haven't been around long enough to qualify for that area.

I'm not sold on the virtues of "high tech tractors" for doing low tech chores. I like my oldies. ('50's, '60's, '70's, and '80's)

Other than that, there's no such thing as a bad tractor, just some that are better than others.

For the record, I like mostly green and yellow in the big tractor line, Red and grey or blue and white in the smaller utility tractor line. (Deere, Massey Ferguson, and Ford)

I don't consider myself a snob, just partial to what serves me the best. Besides, when everyone else finds "alternative brands", it helps keep the prices in check on my favorites.

Owned a Chinese built tractor for 5 years and there was a lot of value in that rig. Used it to clear our property before we built and it saved us countless hours of backbreaking manual labor. Only reason we traded up was for more HP and to add things like a loader, BH, pallet forks and more implements.

Presently own a New Holland that I am very pleased with but it isn't the only tractor out there and I'm sure there are many others that would do the same job equally well. Fact is I would own one of them green tractors anyday, so I can't be a tractor snob, can I? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Its amazing what beer can do to an individual !!! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I know a guy who called his brother and told him " you need to get your car out of the road" the guy assumed his car rolled out of his driveway into the main road during the night,he looked out the window and his car was not in sight. He calls his brother back and said "I don't even know where my car is" come to find out his car was in the road, 5 miles from his house sitting in the north bound lane of a highway out of gas about 1/2 a mile from the local tavern. The guy ran out of gas and does not even know who took him home.

Ah, the wonders of alcohol. I seen enough growing up I decided I better stick to coffee and water. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Some of the stuff I seen was hilarious and some sad.

Mornin Henro,
Im kinda thinkin yes /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Well maybe.

Look down my nose at some cheaper tractors, No.

Look down my nose at owners of those tractors, No.

I dont like to hear stories about inferior castings on chinese tractors breaking! Yes.

Dont like to hear about working people like myself, spending their hard earned money, and getting ripped off no matter what the product. Yes.

Bottom line, how could I really be a snob? I bought a used tractor that I got a great deal on, I couldnt even afford a new one /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyone who owns a tractor, and is happy with it, and it does what they want it to do, more power to them!!!

You might have a great thread started here /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My budget doesn't allow me to be a snob. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif In my mind, a tractor is a tool. I like to get the best tool for the best price for the job I have in mind. A lot of decision making goes into qualifying what is the best tool and my criteria probably differs from others.

I've operated a bunch of different tractors - a Ferguson, two Whitea, a Long, a Belarus, a bunch of Deeres, several Kubotas, and a couple New Hollands. Why so many? Because you run what the farm has at the time. When you work at different farms, you work with different tractors.

Our own farm has been orange for a good long while. It just seems to be the tractor that suits us (use, costs, dealer, etc). However, I would love a NH, a Mahindra, a Deere, a Kioti, a Ferguson, etc.

I really don't owe an allegiance to any particular brand. Until one brand or another decides to sponsor our farm and subsidize our implements and tractors, I’m not going to be a brand cheerleader. Tractors are cool tools. I can find something to like on almost any brand and year model. But, I can also find something to dislike on almost any brand and year model too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not really a snob. I drive Kubota, but if the local dealers were better I could easily have gone for Kioti, JD, MF or NH. While I'm okay at routine maintenance I need help with major breakage, so ruled out the "off brands" simply because there was no local dealer to support me.

Nah, these things cost way to much to look down on any one brand.
My 1st tractor was a 48 TE20 that wasn't too fancy but would work and work and work whenever I'd wake it up so that made it priceless to me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I like machinery that does what it's supposed to do no matter what it's color or origin.

Don't do beer anymore but I figure I'd now be a major stock owner of AB had I invested instead of partaken /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
