Is there any difference between a 1998 L3710 and a 2001 L3710. A dealer has a 1998 L3710 with zero hours that he is offering at a pretty good price, but I'm wondering if there are any functional differences from a new one.

Does it look like it has 0 hours? 0 hours after 3 years in inventory is hard to beleive. I would check the oil and hydraulic fluid. Tires still have the molding nubs, Oil is so clean you can hardly see it on the dipstick, no scratches or dents? Look at it and remember buyer beware... Less honest dealers may disconnect the hour meter for rentals or a machine they use in the yard (or their house).

Tough to show zero hours on the meter and not be aware of some usage. Tractors do use dirt as a big part of their existence. As abrasive as dirt is, even paint would not cover it up. Tougher to paint and repair a semi used rig (and more costly) then to just sell it as used with its modest depreciation. Now cars, thats another story. Rat...

Roger,
I found it by calling, so I've not inspected it yet, but I'll do exactly as you suggest and look for those tale-tale signs of use. Better safe than sorry. Thanks for the advise.
