Flying Wild Alaska: Blow It Up : Videos : Discovery Channel
Talk about living in the boondocks, this episode has a story about a couple that needed a flight back to their cabin. Considered the most remote cabin in Alaska, the couple are the last of the original 7 permits "grandfathered" to live on the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). ANWR has 17.5 million acres. The closest road is like 200 miles away. They have an "emergency tent" incase the cabin catches fire. Frozen meat hanging all over the place. Wondering what keeps the bears from it? The guy is asked his opinion about the oil companies wanting to drill on a small portion of ANWR and he states that he is pretty much neutral on the subject. I would like the discovery channel to do a series on that couple. I would go crazy if I had to spend even a year without most of the modern comforts available to me. No internet alone would be a deal killer for me. I guess I'm not the "get away from it all" type. I have to admit I like my creature comforts. To each their own.
