Just like the thread title says; looking for anyone who has experience with a hydraulic auger on their FEL. How did/does it perform? Auger sizes? Soil conditions? Maintenance issues? Would you buy it again?

I personally dont see how it would work. Those are designed to operate with the increased flow and pressures associated with skid steer units.
i was at one time thinking of getting one to use with my rear hydraulic booster kit that i use for my FEL snowblower, but the cost was too much. I simply added a hydraulic assist to my 3 point post hole digger. Did the job.

There are some hydraulic augers made for tractors that requires way less flow to work properly. With one of those units, I can only see it working great, specially because down pressure can be applied versus the 3 pt ones and can also be reversed.

I built one for my homemade backhoe, that uses the auxiliary circuit with 4 GPM and works great.

There are units out there that perform very nicely on a diet of 8-10 gpm turning 8-12" augers or perhaps larger. MacMillen is one.

I have the Land Pride SA20 In the Messicks video. I just redid my 20 year old split rail fence in June, and the hydraulic auger was a game changer.
Our soil is clay, but had chunks of concrete almost everywhere from a large demo job years ago. The chunks stopped the 3 point auger cold, and required me to bust them up with a digging bar and manually remove from the hole. The down pressure from the fel brought up the chunks in all but one hole, and that one just took a few seconds to pick out.
The rpm's of the hydraulic auger were much slower than a 3 point auger. It was a non issue with drilling the hole, but required a different technique for clearing out the loose dirt. I drilled to depth until no more dirt was coming up and out, stopped the auger, and raised it out of the hole. On most holes I did this 2-3 times to clear the hole.

What did you use for the hydraulic motor?

Just a 200 CC Danfoss hydraulic motor. Straight to the auger, which I don't recommend, but I did it anyway at my own risk. It definitely needs a bearing support to take the axial load of the motor.

It does stall on me every once in a while when I find a big rock or stump/roots but I find it to be good that way, so I don't break stuff.

I have a fair number of stones in my ground and there is no way a PTO auger would make any progress, I've tried and failed.

With the hydraulic unit mounted to the loader I was able to apply down pressure and chew through the rocks.

I'm lucky that most of my stones are sand stone, so as long as the cutting teeth are in decent condition, it wasn't a huge deal.

Flow wasn't a problem, the auger just turned a little bit slower.

We run one. It freed up a skid steer. It works just fine and dandy. It's a pretty big unit. Yes will buy again. We dont even have a pto digger anymore. Run it fwd rev that's handy. We have two tracked skid steers. Never seen the digger on them.
