Interesting.
I wonder how it is different from my all-hydraulic Deere?
Or any of the HST operated tractos?

These have not changed in basic design in 40 years and are solid as a rock. I have the small wheeled version and have done nothing but change the oil and filters in 12 years of use.

They are not hydrostatic, but rather run off an hydraulic pump.

They are commonly sold as used here in SE Michigan and one can get a nice deal on a used one if you wait awhile.

Beenthere, I must be the first to admit, I don't know much about all of JD stuff. However, I did not think JD had all hyrdaulic, uless it was a large tractor.

My mid size garden mower is hydrostatic - with belt drive to the rear.
Where the Ingersoll model is full hydraulic.

Travelover, what city are you in?
Nothing like them, new or used, found up here.

I need the hydraulics, diff, pump, motors, valves and all for my tractor build.
I might even use the frame.

6thgpSF, I was given a quote of $11,500 with a deck and 10,971 w/o a deck.

Case garden tractors were the same thing and the original company was call Colt in the 1960's. They use a gear pump on the engine and a motor on the rear axle with a flow control valve in between. So they are not hydrostatic. I have several older Cases and I wouldn't say they are all hydraulic. They do use a belt drive for the mower and snowblower, although the tiller was hydraulic drive. They are build just as solid as my 1972 444 Case, which I use to mow 2+ acres every week.

I think there were several brands of lawn and garden sized tractors, including JD, Cub Cadet, Wheel Horse, etc that had hydraulic tranny's with the forward reverse control on the dash.
And like the Ingersol, they used a clutch/belt arrangement to power the deck. Ingersol shows some hyd. motors running a blower, and they may have also had a mower deck with hyd. motors.

Wish you well on the build.

Here is a site that has endless info on the Ingersol - Case tractors that had the high rear wheels. They were a good feature.

I own a Case and Ingersoll. They are bullet proof. Very simple design. They are hydraulic drive, not hydrostat. A Hydraulic pump coupled to the crankshaft with a hydraulic motor conected to the rear end. The fluid flows thru a directional valve controled with a lever from the dash. My 446 High Wheel Case is 30 years old and operates much like it did 20 years ago when I bought it. I also bought Ingersoll 222 new in 1988. Both of mine has a 2 speed rear ends. Honestly I have rarely changed the hydraulic fluid. I use 20wt motor oil in the hydraulics.
