Hello,

I'm looking to invest in a 100hp tractor and looking at the JD 6105M or the MF 5610 or 5400 series. I'd like to add a front PTO and Front 3pt. onto these. Larforge makes the OEM for the JD. I think about a 12,000 add on. Anyone know much about Front PTO and Front 3pt for use here in the U.S.

Thanks

I do not know but think they are neat. Wonder if any dealers could get one imported from Europe where they are more common?

Deutz, same, fiat, or fendt might be a better choice

I've seen the factory front 3 point on New Hollands at my dealership, the same one used in Europe. Also I have pictures of a Case tractor, model sold here in America, mowing the horse race track by my old home in France using 3 mowers - front 3 point along with a rear to each side. Assume the option is available in America if ordered just like the New Holland version. Kubota has it on their new M7 series they will be importing into America although the specs for the American version aren't out yet. Have you look on Deere's build your tractor site, or Massey's?

Thanks All. I did check and John Deere does list a front 3pt/PTO option in their build our own. There site is difficult to use so I'm couldn't get what it would cost. In Massey, the only list a front 3pt. They don't offer factory front pto so might have to go with JD.

I don't have the specs for the Massey at which you are looking downloaded on my iPad but I do have the Massey 7600 specs and they show the front 3 point as a factory option and the front PTO as a dealer installed option. They have a picture of a front mounted mower running off a front OTO in the brochure. I think they might handle the smaller version the same way. I'm trying to think back to all the European tractors I have seen using the front 3 point and I can't recall any that weren't using a front PTO driven implement in conjunction with the 3 point. Oh, why I suggest not dropping consideration of the Massey - one of my pension checks comes from AGCO so I have a vested interest.

Considering investing in a new tractor that size is a big deal -- not just to you but to the dealers. You can be sure that JD, Massey and NH all have machines out there with front PTO and 3pt hitches. Not so sure of Kubota. (I'm talking in stock somewhere.) My advice is find a GOOD DEALER near you in each of the brands. Ask each one to locate you a tractor that fits your listed-for-them needs that already has the front hardware installed. There will not be many but that will flush out the truth of what is really available. With some luck you can then get pricing and have some comparisons and decisions to make. I have been to Europe a couple of times and seen both Deere and Massey Ferguson tractors with front PTO and 3pt hardware (and several oddball brands I never heard of.) They also commonly have some VERY neat quick attach mechanisms that are way ahead of any I have seen in the US. In particular, I have watched some Austrians mow hay with a front mounted haybine-like cutter on the front of a large John Deere. And they were doing it on ground that I would hesitate to even put a tractor on it was so steep. The visibility and control aspects of putting your tools up front is impressive.

I think you will find that nearly all the major tractor manufacturers offer the front 3pt hitch/pto option. I know Case/IH and Deere do. I am not sure if it is in all tractor sizes or just the bigger ones. It is starting to become much more popular as farmers are starting to use them to run things like front mounted disc mowers in combination with a pull behind to increase their mowing width for increase production. The best thing to do is to find a good dealership and talk to the salesperson.

My friend had a frt PTO setup on his TC75 driving a 7 foot blower.
Dang thing literally broke off and caused about $5k damage. Dealer repaired it and 10 hrs later it broke again repeating the repair bill. At this point tractor had about 600 hrs of usage.
My take is that there was just too much weight overhanging the front plus shaft angles were excessive. Lawsuits dragged on and costs soared.
The dealer claimed the owner was a "cowboy".
That installation used 6 ea 3/4" bolts to fasten the extension to the tractor frame and even adding welding did not cure the problem.
While he won the court case, he lost usage of that tractor for 2 years as dealer was holding the tractor hostage (and charging storage) during the proceedings.
The FRT PTO setup was an aftermarket product with adapters for various brands. While well designed the installation left much to be desired IMHO.
Dealer never gave in, it was the adapter vender that footed the bill.
The only winners were the lawyers.

My take is that this type device, well made as it is, is limited to weight hanging out front and terrain it operates on.
My friend did drive the tractor on rough roads and the whipping action of bumps and ruts did not help.

I'd like to add a front PTO and Front 3pt. onto these.

I go to the WorldAgExpo to see the offerings from the tractor makers, and saw this at the 2011
show. It had a front 3-pt and PTO. Not 100hp or your usual tractor configuration, but is was
cool.

That said, I made a front 3-pt for my tractor's FEL, but use a hyd motor instead of a PTO for
rotational power.
