I was looking at some generator heads that are belt driven. My question is what is the easiest way to get the PTO hooked up to a pulley?

Does anyone sell such a beast?

Has anyone here made such a beast?

I was thinking a surplus bush hog transmission may get the job done.

Ideally, it would have a gearing option to get the RPM's up. Target would be 3600, but I am guessing I could get partly there with pulley sizes.

Why not eliminate issue entirely and purchase
a trailer mounted PTO shaft driven generator.

A single V belt drive for a pto shaft and gearbox is more
trouble than its worth when you can ba ready use unit
to power your home and anything else if desired.

No sense in making any more work for your self
than you have too.

All the 540 or 1000 rpm PTO generators have step
up gear sets integral with generator.

Even with the main breaker off in your house
dont get caught back feeding your home
with a double male electric drier cable fed
through the drier vent.with the power out
in the neighborhood

Oh No; was the supplier unhappy?:ashamed:

For the original PO. Do you have access to inexpensive generator heads?

If you really need the belt drive set it up on a separate platform with generator. Make sure the generator has the proper type of bearings for side loading or set up the driver accordingly. You will have to do some figuring to get the proper pulley diameters and tractor rpm to be compatible with the tractor HP. Suggest double belt pulleys or?? other than a single V belt. Note they v belts also come in different configurations and probably use category.

As has been said, the purchased unit with all the proper attachments may be advisable .:)

When Ike came through my neighbor was laughing at me becuase we were feeding the genset into house power via a 220 breaker. He was laughing because he saw me break the seal on the power meter and remove it so there was no chance of backfeeding.

I was just really thinking out loud in regards to the question of why not do it with a pto genset..
