Mowing Anyone Know Belt Size for a MH Pacer Cutter bar Mower ?

We have a 1954 Massey Harris Pacer which has been largely restored, runs well and is full of nostalgia for us original-owner family members who are left. Right now trying to get the "cutter bar" or mid side sickle bar mower back up and going. Bar has been straightened, new bolts, etc. The old original drive belt (from the PTO pulley to the mower drive pulley) is missing so we can't just match it.

Anyone know or seen documentation on the belt size to be used ? I know, we can take measurements and wing it -- just wanting to see if anyone has the data.

It is roughly 64" length and either 7/8" or 1" width.

I don't know anything about sicklebar mowers, except to keep your fingers and toes clear! Do you have any more information, perhaps off of an ID tag, about the mower? I did a quick internet search and came up with this place, they may be able to help you:

Aside from that, I'd grab a few long old belts, cut and tape them together, and string them around to get an approximate length for your new belt. A piece of thick rope will do the same trick just as well, and be more readily available.

Thanks for the tip on that website. Also great idea of taking pieces of old belts and connecting them to get a measurement. That would have worked I'm sure. As it turns out, I took some risk and bought a 64" x 7/8" belt sight-unseen. It works great. I had erroneously measured the "bottom of the valley" of the pulleys length rather than top of belt. That was 60" and I just estimated the added length for being on top of the belt as maybe 4" more. That and the 7/8" width work well. I did several minutes worth of test mowing and that part is fine. Just need to sharpen sections, replace a guard or two and keep it lubricated.
