Im looking at this Lhh Deep Water Well Drilling Rig Machine Water Well Drilling Equipment - Buy Water Well Drilling Equipment,Water Well Drilling Rig Machine,Water Well Drilling Rig Product on Alibaba.com

Cost isnt an issue, shipping at more than 5 grand is.

Must be a more economical way to get this to the U.S.

Similar units are avail here in the U.S by such companies as deeprock but these units look like they were built by the same team that designed most of harbor freights gear and at 3 times the cost!

Wait a minute did you see the shipping cost $5,651.81 to United States by Express TNT THAT IS NUTS. Ship by boat to a port near you. MUCH LESS

I buy a lot of things from all over the world depending on what I need. I purchase large military MASH tents from India, other tents and metal goods from India. I purchased a lot of electronics from China, I just purchase a 3 point trencher from China.

What I find is that no matter who brands it over here it's made in another country. Generally buying direct I pay a LIT less even with shipping and import fees for what they get here. One light I was buying went for 13K over here I paid under 1K same exact specs on the light.

I've had a lot of discussions about buying direct. Things like warranty issues. I tell them I'm my own warranty department. I can buy 6 pieces of the same thing for the price of one over here. If it breaks I throw it away an open a new box. Generally things upgrade every year or so on the theatrical lighting I was buying so paying a lot less let me keep my inventory fresh where other who invested USA retail were stuck using their units far far longer to pay them off. Mine were paid off on the first rental and every rental after that was pur profit.

Yes there are some down sides working with someone who don稚 quite understand your language or you theirs but it works out.

Heck I even had one company send me an extra box of parts for a pallet load of lights I purchased so I can become my own warranty outfit and fix what went wrong. They sent me 6 additional light parts for I was covered.

I've had prototype inventions made in China. Here in the USA they wanted 50K to do cad drawings and develop the mold etc. In China I ordered 50 units of my finished prototype, including the moulds and CAD drawing for $5,000. I got a patent because of their help while here in the USA they say here's my price take it or leave it.

Some products I get here as fast as Amazon ships. I order on a Friday and by Tue it's at my front door.

There's electric bike people are going nuts for here in the USA currently and the web site says "they developed" the bike and are getting 5K for the bike. I found the manufacturer in China who will sell me as many as I want for $800.00 Ea.

I purchased a heavy duty off road style mobility cart for my father in law. Here they wanted 12K for the unit. I had it shipped from China for $1,5K and that was 10 years ago and the only problem was the batteries died after 5 years of use.

I was only burned once. I purchased some equipment and it arrived in pieces as customs tore the unit apart to examine the battery.

Bottom like find a good broker, who can help with all the importing issues and buy with some assurance like through Alibaba assurance program.

I ordered a product with a strict deadline and was promised delivery. They kep trying to get an exstension but I said nope. I cancelled my order with Alibaba and got my money back.

Sure they will be a lot of squawking about "Buy America" But when America lets me down and will not work with me then it's Americas fault I go overseas. Frankly I find the people overseas much more willing to work with you if you have some prototypes you want developed.

For a different perspective see dfkrug's long thread on importing mini-excavators for resale. In summary, he has to resolve some unexpected issues to get them salable but the low cost makes that worthwhile.

Here's the current page:

Thanks, we make little to nothing here in the U.S. We are all aware of that. Its not my doing and I dont feel the least bit guilty with attempting to purchase something from outside the U.S on my own leaving out the U.S middleman.

Im gonna contact a broker, if I can find one that will handle every step for me at a reasonable price than I may go that route

I agree you can purchase things overseas for less cost and I do it. But I don’t blame America for the problems. We have things like OSHA for worker protection, the EPA insures we have clean water and air, health insurance, disability insurance, unemployment insurance, maternity leave blah blah. These programs cost a lot and for the most part we the American people demanded them. Trust me China, India et al doesn’t have them. Then there’s the hidden QC issues like maybe the 304 stainless doesn’t have quite the same chrome content as the ASTM spec calls for. Not saying programs are bad, when I started my career wasn’t uncommon to have multiple deaths on a large construction project now we celebrate a million manhours without a lost time accident. So instead of blaming America we all need to look in the mirror.

Ok rant over

I've used 2 different broker or importers. While I've read of reports where that can be done yourself, realistically you'd need to be "near" the port of entry. It cost me something on the order of $700 (I think, I'd have to pull out the records). It's well worth the money. They know what needs to be done and there is a lot of stuff they have to coordinate and make happen in a timely manner to keep from incurring additional government fees.

Two of my friends are Italian, and they order stuff from Italy all the time. What Marco told me was that when they don't need a whole shipping container of stuff (they do specialized metal work in the city - like railings and doors for rich people) they sublet a portion of a container off another person. I don't know the specifics, but maybe that is what the brokers are doing? They all go back to Italy form time to time, so the language barrier doesn't exist for them.
