Anyone here have an 8N with a loader?

I have been looking at getting a tractor and was pretty well settled on an LS with a loader.

My neighbor is hinting that he would like to get rid of his Ford 8N . That would work for me if I could find a loader for it. Anyone here have suggestions for a loader to put on a 8N? Was there a factory loader for these tractors or would an aftermarket loader be the best option? Any pictures would be appreciated too.

Don't bother with that.Had one..not very handy at all.No power steering and the front ends can't handle much stress.Those old n's were good for plowing or pulling a hay wagon,that's about it. Last year I cut one up(the loader) and sold it for scrap.

Most of the older loaders for this tractor had pressure to raise the arms but not to tilt the bucket. This limits what can be done to some degree. Newer loaders are available but very hard to find used or cheap. The tractor is very handy for alot of chores but tilling is not one of them .

got a 8 and a 2n and they were my go to tractors for plowing or sickel bar mowing, but for a loader I have a new holland with hydrolics:thumbsup:

1-arm loaders are available, though getting a lil scarce.. but the brackets to fit one to an 8n.. you might look for 5 ys to find a set. maybee longer.

there are plenty of old trip loaders and hyd loaders, especially jungle gyms out for 8n's.. though I wouldn't pick an 8n / loader combo. I'd move later to a 55 series at a minimum...

A couple of tractors ago, I had an 8N with a Wagner loader. It was a full hydraulic loader that would easily lift the rear of the 8N instead of the load. I found the loader at an old greenhouse operation and fabricated the front brackets. I wouldn't do that to an 8N again.

I moved to a '64 4000 (gas) with a loader and that was a great tractor.

My buddy has one with a loader; hydraulic up, gravity down and trip bucket. It uses the draft control lever to raise and lower. It will be going up for sale soon - nice classic but not very user friendly or versatile. Loader also has a habit of dropping suddenly - kind of hard on the lawn:laughing:

sounds like the 3pt handle had a loose friction disc or tension nut.
