Just curious if anyone has either the U5040C or XU5065CPS and your overall real opinions of them.

Picked up a XU5065CPS with LS Loader and Backhoe in September. So far it has done everything well, except the fuel gauge is off and tank is a bit on the small side for extended operations. Also, the transmission range selector is a bit stubborn at times. R4s and 4WD work well for loader jobs and haven't destroyed lawn... I've been avoiding the mud... and it is just the right size for close quarters operations with good turning radius.

Not much to compare it against given my limited tractor experience, but the PS is easy to use (originally wanted hydrostat), the cab has been water tight and comfortable for one, suspension seat takes out most small bumps, and the self leveling loader a welcome amenity. Compared with the big name competitors, price was much less and avoided the DPF that comes on most Tier 4 engines these days. The trade off is a dealer that is farther away and questionable long term parts availability (no equivalent Case-New Holland model to my knowledge) but hoping/expecting LS sales and dealer network will continue to grow here in U.S. market and overseas.

Still haven't taken my BH off to use any PTO or ground engaging implements, but suspect tractor will meet/exceed expectations in all areas but fuel economy and engine noise at PTO RPMs. FE may improve as the engine breaks in (or when the gauge gets fixed!), but there isn't any adjustment to or economy PTO setting, and the 540 rating is near the top of the rpm range. I'd pick it again over the XR4046 for the leveling and higher capacity (height & weight) loader, bigger BH, plus the increased PTO HP and overall weight will allow me to run a larger bush hog and hopefully expand into 5x4 or 5x5 hay baling. I liked the Kioti RX series better, but adding stuff that comes standard on LS inflated price past max. budget and the local Kioti dealers didn't earn my confidence. That and the LS blue has grown on me. I have no hesitation to recommend LS or the XU5065 if you can find a dealer you like.

I looked at and test drove both the XU5065CPS and a P7010C. Both with R1 tires. It was a toss up for a while. I ended up going with the P7010C for several reasons.

My reasons were.

1. Did not need a backhoe.
2. Have enough acreage to justify the larger, heavier tractor.
3. Can utilize the extra loader capacity (3500 lbs).
4. Did not really need the PS.
5. Larger cab, more lights.
6. Only a couple $k more than the XU5065CPS
7. Wife told me to get what I felt we needed.

I'm sure this review probably doesn't help much, since I went up in size. BUT, if someone did not want/need the larger P series, the XU5065CPS is a very powerful tractor for its size! Also the XU is "fancier" than the P series. The P series is a pretty basic workhorse. Good luck.

Thanks for the reviews guys. I am planning on down sizing from a 100 hp Massey but still need to be able to handle the large round bales. Don't want to get too small though. Can't justify the cost of the big name brands.

What size bales/baler will you be working with?

I use the tractor for off loading bales, 5x6. I was told they are 1800 lb bales. My massey lifts them with ease. I am concerned about enough tractor for the job but do want to down size

This probably goes without saying, but plan for rear ballast on the 3PH and/or in the rear tires when moving 5x6 bales with FEL only. Or start/end with one on the 3PH. My tires aren't loaded because of the BH, but even with it attached a full bucket noticeably changes the balance.

In all my catalog crunching pre-purchase, noticed LS generally had the shorter wheelbases among similar class competitors. They also have some of the stoutest FEL lift capacities, so a little common sense and planning may help avoid an uncomfortable (or worse) situation. In other words, believe that line between safe and not could be a little narrower and more abrupt vs. the longer wheelbase and heavier chassis of your 100hp M-F.

Even my tires on the massey are loaded. I wouldn't have a tractor/loader without ballasted tires.

Greetings,

My U5030C will be two years old in February. Right now it has about 330 +/- hours. I have used it mostly for brush hogging, pounding in steel pipe fence posts, box blading, and the usual fel/forklift stuff.

As with any machine, there are a few minor things I would change, but, if I was buying a tractor today I would get the very same one.

Let me know if you have any specific questions,

HCF

I've had a U5020C with an LL5100 loader for almost a year now. The pallet pictures contains 36 - 50lb pails of cement plus the forks and pallet itself. It lifts them with no problem at idle and with no ballast other than the loaded rear tires. She does get a little light when at full height, but manageable. I plow snow with the FEL (7ft blade), grade drivewys and such. It does everything I need and more. I do a lot of road running in the winter plowing local driveways and found she bogged a little in high (16th) gear, so I turned up the engine to ~55hp - 57hp and she works great now with no boggin at all! I had originally wanted the U5030C but the dealer talked me into the U5020C becuase it was less money and would do everything I wanted and he was right.
