JD TLB 110 2005
Mine quit working. Is this a major trans fix?

It might help of you provide some additional details. What were the circumstances? What does it do now? How many hours and history of the machine? Do you know for a fact that it needs to be rebuilt? Apologize if these are redundant questions, just trying to get you some help from the vast knowledge base of TBN.

The tractor is a 2005, 740 hours. Not used hard. Was pulling a set of disk and noticed the tractor would spin a back tire. Felt like front wasn't pulling. Raised front end on the bucket and backed up no wheel turn as has always happened when the front wheels were off the ground in 4wd. All linkage moves freely. Shaft coming out of trans moves with linkage. No grinding, No noise, I see a retainer on the shaft and wonder if I can pull it out and maybe something simple has broke. I don't have a manual, If I could just see whats inside. thanks

Does the control lever "feel" normal? Or does it just seem to flop up and down? If it feel normal, then you might want to check the drive shaft from transmission to front axle. It has a splined coupling on each end of the shaft that could slip off if the retaining pin breaks or the splines could strip out. check out the diagram.

RonPaul2012,
Of all the people on this forum I would listen to what jd110 says first. You are lucky he has responded to your thread. He always seems to have quality answers that are well thought out and backed by experience.

The lever seems to move free'er than normal. It stays up but just doesn't seem to have the detent like normal. I haven't checked the driveshaft, I'm going over it more Monday morning.

Ok heres what I got, With the front wheels off the ground and the 4wd disengaged I can turn the driveshaft (front wheels don't turn), with 4wd engaged I cannot turn the driveshaft (tells me trans is working) with 4wd disengaged holding onto the driveshaft and turning a front wheel you can feel the driveshaft rubbing against whatever is turning. No grinding but the driveshaft pulses like it may have sheared on an angle as it goes around. I desperately need a picture off the front assembly of a 110. Also the plastic cover will slide forward from the rear but after removing the two bolts the front won't slide to the rear, I'm not forcing it other than lightly prying with a screwdiver and it don't want to slide. Any help, helps. thanks

Thanks for the link, I'm going out to try and remove the driveshaft, looks like a couple slip sleeves. Pray for me one might have lost a pin and unhooked.

YEEEAAAHHHHH!!!!!! All it was, was the front sleeve centering pin was worn out and allowed the sleeve to slide back disengaging the pinion spline. I had pins (big smile) all is good. Thanks go out to everyone that responded and JD110 thanks for pointing me toward the driveshaft. I bookmarked the link to JD Parts. I guess when your right with the Lord miracles do happen. Off to work, Thanks everybody.
