Subject says it all, anyone? All the old threads I found links are dead.

What do you want to apply with a wick applicator? I build a ten foot wide front end loader applicator for selectively killing Johnson grass in my hay fields. Be more specific about what you need, and maybe my plans would be want you want.

Exactly what I plan to do. Kill burs grass and thistles that stand taller than my alfalfa. I plan on straping it to the fel and just driving through the fields with it.

Mike thanks for the links, especially the first one. I think I am going to build that one. I will use 10ft 2x4's for the framing and 3/4 inch pipe. Should be able to hit my fields 10 feet at a time, will go pretty quick i think.

I have hay forks for my loader, and from these forks I attach the wick applicator.
the applicator tank is made of four inch schedule 40 PVC pipe. The pipe has a cap on one end and an ell and a screw/cap for the other, for filling the pipe. The wick is made of good quality, soft, nylon rope, one half inch. The pipe is ten feet long, with one half inch holes drilled in the bottom of the pipe, spaced about twelve inches apart, with a pair of holes, and then another twelve inches to the next pair of holes. The wick ropes are about eighteen inches long, and drape from one hole to the second hole in the next pair of holes. The reason for the cross-over of the ropes is so that you don't miss any weeds.
The ropes enter the pipe through flo-seal wick grommets, available at your local New Holland store, hopefully. These grommets are great, if you adjust them properly.
This wick rig works great, and you can put a lot of 50/50 round-up mix in it. If this is not as clear as I would like it to be, let me know.

Thanks pusto. 50/50 sounds strong. I was thinking 6 ounces per gallon would do it.
