Kubota 3540
I'm looking to buy a grapple for my soon to be purchased kubota 3540. primary use will be some tree limb/firewood moving and general cleaning up. I've researched all the grapple posts, but can't seem to find anyone who has the CID attachments grapple that my dealer is suggesting. anyone have this grapple (either bucket or claw style)? Anyone have any other experience with CID?

with some more research it looks like the CID and the 'rootgrapple' (at rootgrapple.com) are the same company. the rootgrapple version seems to have teeth on the bucket though? anyone have one of these?

I don't recall anybody having one like that.

That CID bucket grapple is clearly built for a big skidsteer. Stay away. Too heavy for CUT use.

I've posted frequently about the Millonzi 48 inch "light duty" grapple. It weighs 280lbs, leaves you that much more lift capacity and seems to be indestructible. My loader is rated to lift 2700lbs and I can pop the relief valve while digging up roots without damaging the grapple at all. It is also a lot cheaper than the massive grapples.

I have a root grapple from these guys and have had no problems so far. You might think about a root grapple instead of a bucket grapple though. With a root grapple you don't need to worry as much about picking up dirt while you are grabbing those logs and what not. Should consider weight also, need to look at the lighter duty grapples as well. Island Tractor has had good service from his 48" Millonzi grapple. I'm not sure if anybody here at TBN has a grapple bucket as you have asked about. A lot of people have grapples though.

Good luck

I'm in the process of buying their 'standard duty grapple'. They seem like nice folks w/alotof dirt on their shovel. The unit I'm buying is almost 200# heavier for the same size and price, I'm thinking that it's stronger...

If I am not mistaken, I think someone got a 48" grapple from them a couple of months ago for about $500. That is a deal. Not sure it was the 1/2 inch steel version on their website though.

Buying a grapple that is 200lbs heavier made of 1/2 inch steel for the same price sounds nice initially but what are you going to gain besides lost lift capacity? 3/8 inch steel is pretty much indestructible if you use it properly (limit loading to forward raking and lifting up rather than sideways or asymmetrical loads). I doubt a tractor FEL could handle any loads that would bend 3/8 inch steel on a grapple. I can lift my tractor rear off the ground easily using my grapple without any damage. What would I gain from a heavier one?

I'm probably not going to hook the monsterous grapple onto my loader arms untill the spring. I think I need to eliminate alot of weight from it first, or maybe sell it, more first..., but I'm wondering if I took off every other tang and cut away some grapple steel maybe the thing would be close to a match for a Kioti 25hst... It seems that if only the outer skeleton was there plus the front teeth, some 3/4 re-rod would hold the branches and stuff.. jake

If the grapple is really too heavy I'd think you'd be better off selling it...lots of skidsteer guys want grapples...and buying a lighter duty grapple. WRLong, Millonzi, ATI and I'm sure others sell grapples that weigh less than 300-350lbs.
