Just wondering if yours works as slow as mine. i will try a few things when i have time but wondered if nyone else had any luck getting more speed out of these.
The pump is rated around 8.5 gal/minute so i dont think that is the problem and also because engine speed makes little difference in helping speed.
I was talking to a fluid engineer at work and he told me that it may either be a bypass set to light or the rams have a restriction at the fittings to slow them down. he said some companies use restricyions to slow the rams down that way they can use lighter duty rams because you cannot stress them bu shaking the bucket. Hmmm, sounds logical.
Chip, I know i told you my fuel tank was rusted and cruddy, what do you use to clean them? I was thinking about taking a gallon of muriatic acid to kill the rust and clean it out and then pour in some of that tank liner stuff that coats the inside.
Have you seen headlight bulbs fail because the terminals break off at the solder joint? i got one that did.

The best way we have found to clean the tank thouroghly is to pour a gallon of muatic acid in an slosh it around. Be real careful with this stuff! It leaves a clean shiny finish.

I noticed when we got our new spare tank, it was coated with rust inside. I really believe that the rust is in the tanks from the beginning, I tend to think the oily nature of diesel fuel would ****** further rusting, in fact I think it tends to wash the rust off some, like WD-40, carrying it into the sediment bowl.

We did coat one tank and are putting it into the next unit we assemble. I have asked the factory to explore changing to a plastic tank as a permanant fix.

The stuff we used to coat was from our NAPA store and it is red, took two days to dry. POR 15 makes a tank liner.

Since diesel is easier on paint and such than gasoline, I'm not sure you couldn't just paint the inside of the tank, after the acid wash. It would have to be a paint that would not be harmed by diesel and the various additives that are sometimes used...I guess this is what the tank coatings are actually.

Thanks chip. Thats what i was thinking too, i wondered if the diesel would keep a rust free tank rust free. I will have to pull it out soon, it filled my sediment bowl 1/3 full again this weekend.
BTW, fixed a few problems on the tractor by adding more fuel with the injection pump. The thing was so lean from the factory the thing took twice as long to even free rev from what it does now.
Before i adjusted it i bet i only was putting out the same HP as my old 284!
Now it has power, revs up like it should, no more hunting on cold starts, and i even get a little puff of BLACK smoke if i jab the throttle of lug it down.
I still need to pull the injectors this spring and test the pop off pressure. I assume that is my bad smell and white blue smoke problem. This particular engine was not adjusted well at all from the engine factory. I am predicting i have a couple injectors with a poor spray pattern or low pressure pop off causing poor combustion. This thing was kill a person if you left it running in a closed area real fast!
Have you ever had to do a major engine tune on any of the Kama's you have imported? The other one that came with this load runs like a top compared to this one.
