If you get the paper delivered to your house, what time does the paper show up?

Since my dad moved in, signed up for the local paper to be delivered so he can read it in the morning.

So far, after two weeks, paper shows up anytime between 0800-1100 and no day has been the same per time frame of delivery.

At my dad's old house, he'd see it by 0500 EVERY morning, 7 days a week.

Called the paper today as I'm trying to figure out what's going on.

Paper tells me I should see it by 0700 every day.

Last week the paper also told me that they would set up a paper "box" next to the mail box so the paper can be put in it, and a week later, nothing....

What's funny is the only local gas station up the road that carries the paper runs out of papers by 0900 EVERY day. I ask them why, and they tell me they've asked for more papers, but to no avail.

When I use to manage a convenience store in my youth, the idea with newspapers was to have ONE left over at the end of the day so you know you were maximizing sales per that newspaper.

I'm beginning to think the local rural carrier may not care.

Just wondering if everyone else gets it anytime or is there a speciffic time it's always there?

Most newspaper are now delivered by mail in rural areas. You are very lucky if you still get papers delivered by a carrier.

I get my paper ONLINE so that I do not have to wait on anyone. It is also cheaper that way.

Dad is 86, he doesn't do "online" for the news LOL

If I was going to do mail for the newspaper, I'd probably go with his local paper in Pa as they offered to do that when I called to cancel his subscription. May be a day or two late, but it's the paper he's use to for the last 40 years or so.

I am just looking into a delivery subscription, as the paper just started charging for digital. I do know that it won't arrive before 9:00, as the delivery person doesn't get going very early. The local general store no longer carries them because they arrived so late.
This is nothing new, though. 30 years ago the same paper charged extra beyond a certain distance from their home base; and the paper wouldn't show up until after 10:00. They also printed a "special insert" on Wednesday which remote areas didn't get. That section included job listings which really was a pain as I was working a short term job and was trying to find something better.

I get the local area Gaylord Herald Times bi-weekly in the mail. Our local weekly paper, Our Home Town [ Vanderbilt ], also in the mail. Neither has much ' news ' in it, mostly promotion articles for local businesses. Nothing like the newspapers of old... I read Detnews and Freep online each morning... more content in the bigger online papers. The local papers get put into real ' paper bags ' and taken out in the barn to help start fires in the winter. Which is what I really am paying for, I guess..... :)

We live in a primarily bedroom community 20+ miles from the center of a city. I get up no later than 5:30 am most mornings. Our daily printed newspaper is always here when I get up, no exceptions in years that I recall. We get the "early edition" of the newspaper, so our copy may not have the latest stuff in it. No matter. I read current news, etc., on the Internet. I suspect that your late delivery is due to the delivery person either just being late or having a route that makes him or her take a lot time to get to your place.

I believe most of those routes are done by “independent” contractors. The paper probably has very little oversight. I doubt more than about 5% of the population under 60yo even gets the paper delivered anymore. It’s less and less of the media’s income.
Your only hope is actually talking to the route coordinator or whoever oversees the carriers. It sounds like all you have talked to is the call center.

I gave up on print delivery decades ago.

My 97 year old father in law got print delivery of the Sacramento Bee for about 60 years. Now he gets digital subscriptions to Sacramento Bee and New York Times. We set him up with that, and fixed his opening screen so he just has to hit on the icon to get there.

We get the Toronto Star, as we have for over 30 years. We are rural, about 35 miles from Toronto. Paper is delivered 7 days a week by independent contractor, arrives at end of driveway by 6AM, except for Saturdays by 7AM. We are moving at end of August to a location an hour farther away from Toronto, so delivery there may not be available. Reading the daily paper over coffee is more of a morning habit for wifey and me... so maybe that will be another change.

On Sunday our paper shows up by 8AM. The rest of the week it is about 2 PM. They seem to go through a delivery person about every two months so it can't be a very profitable business.
