Anyone ever notice this? 4wd switch..

Ok I have a DK40SE... any of you other SE tractor owners ever notice this?? I will be doing something in 4WD and all of a sudden, my tractor will lose traction and I will be in 2WD. But, at no fault of the tractors... my KNEE will accidentally hit the 4wd switch. It only happens when I am turned around looking behind me (boxblade work, bush-hogging, etc). Please tell me I am not the only one to experience this... haha. Just thought I would share.

Yes, I have this happen to me as well a few times. I've been noodling some fixes and the best I've come up with is a cage/backet along either side of the switch like the Apollo Space Capsule has?

Have you had your other knee hit the key and shut it down yet? I've had that happen a few times as well.

I'm all of 5'7" tall, and weigh 160 drippin wet so maybe we are twins?

We cab owners don't have that problem. The 4wd switch is well out of the way.
Don't know if this would help but if you can fit a small u-bolt over the switch as a safety it might help. You'd have to be able to get the nuts on from behind and I don't know it that is possible on that model. Ditto the key switch only put u bolts on either side.
If you paint it orange before you install it will look factory

Interesting, I've never had that problem and I'm 6'5". The only times I've had 4wd cut out is when I've pulled apart the electrical connector under the left operator station by backing over tough brush stumps.

I've done the same thing in my DK45SC by putting my hand on the electronic switch when twisting around to see where I'm going backwards. Even more often, I've shut off the electronic PTO switch on the cab support column...it is an almost natural place for my hand to fall when I'm twisting to look back.

I have turned off they key with my knee a couple of times - 6'2" and way more than 160 drippin' wet.

Think it is just part of getting to know how I fit in this relatively new machine.

Same here, more then once I have hit the key with my knee and shutdown the tractor. Could be a new safety feature since it seems to happen when I slide forward on the seat. Another reason to wear the safety belt!

Ok, you have a Grapple and Ripper now when are you going to armor plate the bottom of your tractor?

That's a good question. Are those of you hitting the switches with your knees wearing your seatbelt?

Sheepishly he responds "No" but I just put it on this morning while driving down (frontwards) into a steep ditch and it was a EUREKA moment - that's why it is there, to keep our butts firmly planted!!!
