Just acquired a 955 Deere with a 70A loader. It has the old style bolt on mount. As I prefer the quick change system I have on another tractor.... I was wondering if anyone modified or bought components to change.

Almost any non quick change can be converted to quick attach. I’ve done a few.

Some are relatively easy, some difficult and some “don’t bother”. A lot depends on the original configuration and what style QA you want to match or convert to.

In one case I had to make an adapter to allow a Euro style quick change attach to SSQA.

I once had a Komatsu wheel loader that when my needs changed and I wanted a Q/A to switch to different bucket sizes and forks it made more sense to buy a different machine.

I built a loader and bucket for our 4110 Deere. New Holland had the simple attaching point, an angle V bracket at the top and a slanted entry at the bottom. I used 3/4" rods through the mount to secure it.

I was trying to find a simple way to attach this 70A loader bucket without cutting the ears off completely while retaining a angle bottom locking point. Not an immediate need but still requires some thought to make it solid yet simple.

I fabricated a backhoe mount and sub frame for the TC 55 to a Bradco 611. That was a chore.

I had an 855 and wanted the SSQA. Found a thread on this site of someone who had built one....way beyond my capabilities. Searched for a commercially available kit but could not find one.

In the end, the JD loader had so little capacity it did not make sense for me to have a custom one fabricated.

Fabricating is more of a hobby. Fun to turn scrap pieces into something useful. Pallet forks are so useful. Switching from bucket to forks would be much easier. Not that I need small ( 4110 ) , medium ( 955 ) , or larger ( TC 55 ) loader combinations it fills a want. Hope I never have to move back to a city, ...... where would one find a garage for ten cars and five tractors ?

Welcome back Joes_427_vette! I haven't seen you on here for many years.

This project is on my list of things to do. My goal is to build a semi quick attach for lack of better term. Something I don't have to modify the bucket and fork carriage I already have. I'd have to dig up some old pictures but it basically has a U shape on top that hooks onto pins that are left in each attachment. You still have to add the lower pins by hand but having the attachment hang from the top pins in the U shaped piece will line the bottom up.

Is that what you're looking for or are you trying to go with a skid steer style where you have to weld plates to the attachments?

Check out how JD did the 240/245/265 loaders. Bucket has top pin welded in place. Loader has a U to pick up the top pin, and a vertical pin, inboard of the boom arms, to lock the bucket on. Vertical pin is square, spring loaded, and engages a "loop" on the bucket.

Thanks, .... Been busy playing with old Corvettes and a 63 post Belair . Built some trailers and a tow dolly as well. Just bought a project 955 so naturally I need to get some tips.
