I wanted to get a crossover relief (cushion?) valve, as a couple of people here recommended for hydraulic mowers/snowblowers.

Burdens is out, but a place called Beiler (looks to be in PA) has them. And for $2 cheaper :D So wondered if anyone had anything to say about them.

Also, I often put my front remotes into relief while using the 4n1 and the grapple. Would mounting the cushion valve permanently be a problem with that, or should I set it up so it can just be hooked up for the plow and things with motors.

Motors driving implements with lots of momentum get serious pressure
spikes when you close the valve driving them. Avoiding that can be done
with a relief valve or with a needle valve. The latter stops flow in one
direction, but takes only nominal pressure to flow the opposite way.

With backhoes, you see cushion RVs (aka shock relief valves) because you
get large pressure spikes due to the weight or momentum of the boom
and dipper, as well as any weight you are lifting.

With your 4-in-1, you don't need any of these relief valves. The biggest
pressure spikes will be seen by your FEL boom lift circuit, and it is designed
to handle those spikes without additional protection (usually).

yeah, I want it for my rockhound/harley rake/auger motors, and impact cushioning for a FEL mounted snowplow, per a previous thread on here. I'm just worried that it'll interfere with the 4n1 etc, not that the 4n1 needs it - I don't want things to go into relief early

I don't think it will bother the 4n1 because both sides of the cushion valve will see the same pressure all the time. With the motor's and two SA cylinders the pressure can spike in only line.

Just my thoughts anyway...

your thoughts are a heck of a lot better than my thoughts!
