Just ordered a L 2501
Having second thoughts about the 72" model (a $$ issue for me), vs. a reversible rear blade. Looks like Messicks has a 60" Land Pride for $550, vs. $1,400 + delivered for the Bxpanded 72" plow, with skid shoes and their dolly. I'm pretty sure its a fine product based on what I read about their products generally. What I have no clue about is the bang I'll get for the buck.

We're in NE PA and get moderate to occasionally heavy snowfalls (and too much freezing rain for my taste). The gravel driveway (no snow blowers) and parking area together are about 300' and the parking area is maybe 60' across. From the street over the first 100' or so of the drive is about a 5 degree downgrade.

Signing the papers for my first compact tractor tomorrow: a Kubota L2501 HST with the 66" SSQA bucket.

Any suggestions from y'all tractor veterans would be appreciated.

Mike

A L2501 should handle a 72" FEL mounted plow o.k.,may want some weight on the three point.I would add and inexpensive rear blade also.Rear blades are great for pulling snow away from buildings and will scrape down to the asphalt.
You may want to "load" the rear tires. Both my tractors have had front plows and R1 tires and have not needed chains;I am fairly flat though.

Thanks, birdman. The dealer is loading the rear tires (at my request) with RV antifreeze.

I have a BXpanded 72inch plow. Works great. Takes alittle practice learning to feather your FEL to get the best angle to plow. Don't think ya need the dolly? I move mine around with the tractor.

I just received my BXpanded 60inch plow. We had about 4 inches of snow a couple of days ago, so I got a chance to 'practice' using it. I'd like to ask if it is necessary to keep the 'yoke' pinned to the bottom of the bucket while plowing and moving an elevated plow? The unit seems to work very nicely but it will take some practice, not exactly intuitive (for me) so far. It is heavy and well constructed.

This will be my 3rd winter with my 72" BXpanded plow. Once your used to getting The FEL to feather the plow it works great! Love being able to have my bucket if needed.

I've gotten a few more opportunities to try out the plow. The term 'feather' is on point, if I don't use too much lift to move off a plowed run, and move the plow down again more slowly, it helps to keep the yoke pinned and re-set the angle of attack more accurately in less time. Thanks for the tip.
