Looked on tractor data, owners manual and can't find how much the 3 point will lift. I want to lift one end of a 40 ft. shipping container off the ground and pull it into position where I want it. We will be pushing on the other end with another tractor. I think the container weighs about 8500 lbs, but I only need to get it up high enough to skid it. Any other ideas are welcome.
Thanks, Bill

4020 3pt capacity is 3790#s so I'd guess 3020 3pt to be less.

toss some smooth round logs under it. to kinda act as rollers

rock sled... goto local salvage yard find a old metal hood of a vehicle. flip it over. so smooth side is on ground. drill / cut some holes for some chains around mounting point on hood. hook chains up to tractor. and pull.
--change up instead of a rock sled, find some medal to kinda act as skies for support / framework of the container. some sort of flat metal bent up some, with maybe a little bracket welded in place. thought is more about keeping the front from digging into the ground. and keep it up above the ground and sliding.

get both tractors on front. chain each one to a corner. and pull it. having a push tractor may cause more problems. vs simply getting both tractors on front and pulling. and keeping some weight up off the front.

I doubt your tractor will have enough lift

other thought. there should be a local "dumpster" company, that delivers a dumpster, and then comes in and picks the dumpster up after ya fill it with your trash. see what it would cost for one of them to come in and pick up the container and move it for ya possibly. i would think there winch and lift would be able to pick up your container. just don't know if they would be willing to drive in any mud/slop and get risk of getting stuck.

I think I will try the rock sled idea, I have some flat stock that I could make into skis. The one tractor is an International yard hilo that will lift the front to keep it from digging in. Decided not to try the JD. If I weld flat stock to make skis for the back "feet" so they can climb over the 18 in. dia. pylons that we are going to pour to support the weight. The pylons will be flush to the ground, so the feet should slide over them with the International lifting the front and pulling and the John Deere pushing. Thanks guys for your help! It will probably be a month or so before we try it, I'll let ya know what happens.
Thanks, Bill

If you have enough front weight on the tractor tie on to it and give it a try. I suspect the tractor can lift the end enough to drag the container a short distance just be careful and use slow motions.

Years ago I know I could chain the side of my Deere 450 dozer to my dad's 3020 and lift it easily to slide the tracks back in place. That was a simple stationary lift, dragging is another issue.
