I am a self proclaimed "Watch Guy". I have a few nice (read Mid Priced) time pieces, but have been wearing LARGE case watches lately. I have a large bone frame (6'3 / 250) and a nice large wrist... so the smaller 40mm watches like what's popular with Rolex, makes me look like I'm wearing a bracelet.

I've been searching luxury watches lately, so my Social Media is FULL of watch adds.

So, if you have a cool watch, let's see it! What types do you like to collect? Why do you like them?

I've got everything from Timex, to Invicta, to Sottomarino to Breitling. So, no judgement here... let's see what you like to wear!

Cheers!

I have one. I'm not a collector but I will not sell this family heirloom. I have the brand and serial number but every where I look for more info on it, I hit a paywall. I did find out it was likely made before 1934.

Rolex homage watch.
Looks like a Rolex, acts like a Rolex, feels like a Rolex and second hand moves like a Rolex.
Yet only $100.

I like aviation chronographs. My last purchase was a Citizen Blue Angels Limited Edition. My son talked me into a smart watch, and I wear it most the time. I love real analog watches, but this watch is very handy and light weight

I’ve got an Elgin Railroad watch, a decent Bulova watch I got from work and a Luminox that I’ve had for several years. My daughter got me a Fossil watch a couple years ago which is a big one that I like.

The Elgin was my grandfather’s and from my research isn’t worth much.

The Bulova is a disappointment. At work after every 5 year period they would send you a small catalog to pick gifts from. The more years the better the catalog. The Bulova was from the 35 year catalog. It stopped working in about a year. It‘s the kind that is self winding. They finally said they would warranty it, didn’t fix it but sent me something vaguely similar but well used.

The Luminox is the kind with tritium inserts that glow in the dark. It’s a decent watch but tritium has a fairly short half life and is starting to get a little weak for brightness.

The Fossil is my newest and is a smart watch, sort of. It still has hands and has 3 buttons you can assign functions to like stop watch, date, hit the button and your phone takes a picture etc.

Just my opinion but a watch isn’t a watch if it doesn’t have the old fashioned hands.

Love this watch. It was B-day present from back in '83/'84. Switched it to a leather band. It has had 9 or so batteries, and as many new bands. Its a water PROOF watch. So I never had to worry about it and water. Model is a W350 Marlin. And I've swam in fresh and salt water with it down to 30 feet. It is still my daily watch. And the alarm still works and can wake me up. It was less than $50 in '84. How ever they designed this thing, they did it well, cause I've really used this, and the stop watch function, near every day for 40 years. :)

I inherited a Bulova Accutron from my Grand Father. Its a first generation watch with no calendar. Can't use it much because the batteries are rather expensive and short lived. So that is just for special occasions. I have to take the battery out after each use. The Grand Mother on that side of the family, had a shoe box full of tiny analog watches. None of which worked. Which I had appraised, and were only worth the melt price of gold content. :) Strange something that intricate had no value but the gold. :)

I want a Rolex Submariner or Sea Dweller so bad I can taste it. However, I've been wearing LARGE case watches like this... my wife got this one for me when I graduated from the Warrant Officer Candidate Course at Fort Rucker about 15 years ago. It is a 53mm case... I have a very large wrist. The 40mm to 44mm cases just look "small" on me now. I'd love to have one of those though... awesome time piece!

I'm looking at MTM watches, and LIV watches now... they keep popping up in my feed!!!

I don't know much about them, I think they are considered "Tool" watches by the serious collectors, and "Tool" generally means "hard use watches". They are not particularly pricey, and they don't pull much on the resale market. I don't buy watches to collect as investment purchases, I buy what I like, and what I will wear.

Thank you all for your input....

If you have a cool watch, let's see them!!!!!
