Well......
My father-in-law came over this weekend to get a load of firewood, and he was quite interested in my new B7500 (only 20hrs), so being the nice guy that I am, I let him haul a couple of FEL loads to the truck and dump them in. Well on the third load, he jerked the FEL up a little to fast and an 18" diameter oak log landed on my new hood, and proceeded to bounce around in a couple spots. Now I have 3 very good dents. Has any one tried to have an auto body shop repair tractor parts (what about blending the paint, and the stickers)? Or should I just buck up and buy a new hood assembly?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Yea the first dent always hurts. My 4310 was pre dented for me allready so I didn't have to worry about the first dent. It was parked on display and an excavator bucket dented the hood. After they got done with it you can't tell it's been dented. I saw it before it was fixed. So that fact also helped me get a much better deal on that tractor.

So to answer your question yes it can be fixed if it needs it. Just have to price out which is cheaper the body shop or a new hood. At a body shop blending paint is no problem and your unit is new so it would be easier to match. Decals are availabe through Kubota. So don't worry it to bad.

To me a tractor is to work not look pretty. So don't sweat it to bad. Remember the first dent is the worst and you'll have a story to tell for a long time to come. As to why you won't let your father in law get anywhere near your tractor.

Shad, I had my hood off to reweld the exhast stack back on where a tree took it off (total coast $10). Mine is a very flat metal piece that should not be hard to beat back out smooth. If the paint was not taken off I would just smooth it back out with a rubber hammer and let her go, for sooner or later.........

I have a B-2910 and got a pretty bad ding on the top. Its costing me $277.00 over the parts counter with me doing the labor. A body shop estimate was over $350.00. One word of warning. This particular part is on back order. I have been waiting for over a month.

Good luck

Well Shad, here's my theory. There's few relationships that, in the big scheme of things, that's more important to preserve than that of your father-in-law. Like him or not, it can have a big effect on your other relationship, e.g. your father-in-law's daughter! That tractor is a fine machine, and sure looks good when new. BUT, it's first a TOOL, and second, a TOOL! They aren't showmobiles. Traditionally, my cars and trucks looked new under the hood, even after 10 years, but the outside pretty much looks their age. I had dents in the hood of my new Kubota after 10 hours that I did myself. Similar circumstances. Look at the dents as war wounds; fix them up in whatever way works best, and get on with the war. Life is too short to worry much about dents.
