any known problems with the JD 855 4x4\'s?

I'm looking at an older model 855 with four wheel drive. It seems to work fine but it's alot more than what my previous budget allowed. Just looking for some feedback on the 855 series and if there have been any know problems to look out for before I make an offer on it. Thanks.

The JD 855 is a great little tractor. There are quite a few of them still in use in my area. I do not know of any major problems with them. The only thing that I do not like is where the lights are located, not a good design.

Not aware of any "typical" problems. They are holding their value well and have proven to be reliable machines. If the unit you are looking at has low hours (under 1500) and has been well maintained, it should be good for a long time yet. Provide more details, and the board will be glad to give you a price check, or look on machinefinder for a comparison.
