I'm having a hard time finding information about what kind of brakes these are. I just opened them up and was expecting the more common type... Just got the trailer - not much information about it (title says it's from 1969)

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Using google lens I was able to find this post on another forum about similar brakes but no info (other than they are from 1955) Silver Streak Brakes Help - Airstream Forums and another similar set here: Help ID my trailer brakes

Something that old and that odd I would look at replacing the whole brake assembly. If it dosnt unbolt I may just replace the whole axle if you plan on keeping this trailer.

I'm still not sure what the name of this type of brake is but they appear to work like so (for anyone who reads this thread in the future):

Magnet pushes blue disk out onto spinning red disk - this causes the blue disk to have friction and push the yellow piece of metal onto the outer C shapped metal which has the brake pads (in green) on it which than act like a drum brake

seems like a style of brake that went out im guessing around the 70s. does not seem like the best design

WHAT? The Blue friction plate moves out and contacts the surface of the red disk, which is attacked to the outer plate which connects to the wheel. Thats it, kind of half a disk brake. Which probably puts quite a bit of stress on the wheel bearings.

Thats what I thought at first but the red disk only touches the blue disk on the outter most part of it, the inside of the blue area is far too far recessed to make contact, I assume the texture on it is part of the magnet? The brake shoes are on the outside for sure. Once i get the electrical hooked up again I may try and take a video somehow
