For folks searching for a good used machine within a given geographical area, I think you have to be more flexible in terms of the make and/or model you're looking for. In my case, once I decided that brand new wasn't going to get me much more than a cute little toy on my limited budget, I was forced to consider available used products from Kioti (several), JD and M-F. That's all that was out there that met my needs... and I looked out as far as 500 miles. After I lost a very nice JD 110 down on Long Island due to a strange twist of timing and fate... I totally lucked out finding a sweet used Mahindra 4110 w/509 BH a mere 25 miles from my folk's place... I believe the only one for sale at the time within 1,500 miles!!! That's just how it works sometimes with good used equipment.

Obviously, keep checking Craigslist and eBay and your various local dealers... along with Equipment Trader and all the other machinery publications & websites... but I'd suggest that if you want or need to go used, you might consider broadening your search.

Very useful website, of course, but "needtractor" and others shopping for used tractors do need to be aware that model years (or production years) listed are often "enhanced" by a year or two (or three) knowingly or unknowingly by the sellers. Obviously, operating hours are key, but age matters too... so on any tractor you are interested in, get the serial number and check with your local dealer (or here) to get the correct production date.

This caution applies to eBay and Craigslist as well.
