I have had my SLT1554 since June and have 17 hours on it so far. So far so good for me. I was just looking for any feedback from other owners of an SLT1554 to see how these machines are performing for them.
I broke the parking brake lever the first day I had it by pushing too hard. That is the only thing that has 'failed' so far.
So far I'm happy with my SLT1554. I really wanted a John Deere but couldn't justify paying so much more money for a 54" mower. I thought the Cub had a lot to offer for the price.

All of our customers have been happy with them. I am not sure why but the parking break/cruise control mechanism on the '05 Cub's seems to be real flimsy. I have broke two by pressing them down too hard! Not sure why Cub changed the desing because we use to never have problems with them, o'well.

There is a "service advisory" for the hood's. Some of the hoods don't stay closed properly and there is an "update kit" for it, your dealer should know about it.

Thanks for the info.

Have your customers had any problems that I could look out for and possibly prevent happening to my tractor?

I haven't read much about the SLT1554 and was wondering how they were working for people. So I was hoping that no news is good news in this case.

No problems to speak of, I have been pleasantly suprised with the lack of problems on all my 1000 series this year...except of course for the parking break situation.

OK just got back from Tractor Supply and was looking at the CC Super LT1554! Is that the same machine that you are referring to? If so can YOU give me some feedback on machine & motor?

Yes, that is the same machine.
I bought it from a local Cub dealer for $2599 and they delivered it for no charge to my camp. They were selling for $2799 at the local TSC.
So far so good. Very smooth machine and EASY to use.
Love the comfortable steering wheel.
Excellent turning radius and very maneuverable around trees.
The 54" cut deck really cuts well.
Bigger back tires handle well and dig through muddy spots in the lawn easily.
The 27HP Kohler engine purrs real nice and has lots of power. Mine does not backfire like some other people complain about, I set throttle down to half for about 30 sec before shutting down.
I look forward to mowing every week with it, don't regret buying it at all. You get a lot of machine for the money.
Fairly easy to change the oil and looks and feels pretty solid.
Only have 20 hrs experience with it but would say that it is a "good buy" and recommend it.

I will start out by saying "Hello everyone" as I am a new guy with this being my first post. I have owned my 1554 since June. It has been great, and I actually look forward to mowing! However,,, I have had one PROBLEM. Two times now it will not start. Both times I lift the hood and pretend to know what to look for. I also make sure PTO is off etc. Then after a while it just decides to start. When it does start it cranks strong (like it's not a battery) then starts right away.
Can anyone give me some insight as to what the problem might be?
Thanks

Greetings to everyone, this is my first post. I have been watching out here for quite some time. I used the feedback to make my purchase back in April. I have about 37 hours on mine and have never had a problem... I have about 2 1/2 acres (2 mowable) and have had some "Tall" grass issues due to heavy rains... The SLT1554 never bogged down... very solid mower. I could not be more happy.

I am sure you already know this, but here's a couple of things my dealer told me to do that are VERY important...

1) Change the Oil / Oil Filter after the first 25 hours (manual says this, so it shouldn't be a surprise).

2) Lube ALL of the grease points after 25 hours, and continue to do so every 25-50 hours.

Have a good one...
