Antonov at Bradley International

I drove past Bradley International Airport in Connecticut today and there was an Antonov 124 parked on the tarmac. I wish I could've taken a better picture but, this is all I could get.

Is that the BIG one? I saw one take off from Windsor, On., what a monster, that was before 9/11. I'd have been afraid to snap that one, HS would have me at GITMO.

Really cool pic! That 124 looks big enough. I think the AN-224 is the big one, though.

I actually drove around a bit and was able to get much closer, though stopping in the road and taking a picture at that spot seemed like a foolish idea.

The AN-225 is the big one. There's only one. It's currently out of service again. It's being re-modified as a first stage rocket platform. It'll take rockets up to its top altitude and the rocket will take paylosds to orbit from there.

The 225 is a little longer, I'm not sure but it may have a fuselage plug, as it uses the same fuselage as the 124. The wings are extended to accomidate the extra engines.

I was in Ankorage, Alaska the other day waiting to fly back to Vancouver and amongst all the 747 cargo planes that landed was a Antonov. It was just taxiing in when our flight was leaving. I was amazed at all the 747-400 cargos that were landing there, probably 12-14 within the hour or so I was sitting there, three JAL's landed within fifteen minutes of each other. Does anyone know what is delivered/picked up by all these planes? There were also 10-12 Fed/Ex jets there as well. All of the 747's were asian lines.
