Antonio Carraro TRX6400
Hi,

I have a 2002 antonio carraro trx6400 which has not been moved for around 6 years.

I managed to get it started with a bit if work and have got the roller mower attached (and working) but the rear hydraulics are not working. Moving the levers and adjusting the sensitivity does nothing. I have not really used this tractor before so I am unsure where to go now.

The pump and levers to operate the rear lift are on the right of the seat but when the tractor is started there is a hissing sound coming from the left where the outlets for the couplings are. Could this be something to do with it?

There is no information really about this tractor online (that I can find) and I have yet to meet another owner! Hopefully there is a few here.

I can't really afford an expensive repair so was hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction.

Thank you

After setting that long and not knowing anything about the fluid could be a problem. Change the fluid, clean the suction screen if it has one and put a new filter on.

Drain about a pint of fluid from the bottom drain and tell us if there is any water and if it looks milky.

If the fluid looks like new hyd fluid, then just try and operate all the hyd putting the cyl through several full cycles.

If you have a hyd gauge, you can install it in a tee in the pump output line before the first valve and check the relief pressure.

You really need a good shop manual, and owners .

I own a 2001 TRX6400. I have a shop manual and may be able to help if you have specific questions.

OK, sorry for the delay in replying, its been a pretty busy time here.

So here what I have done,

Replaced the hydraulic oil, (it was greenish?) replaced the filters. There was a small leak from one of the couplers which i have repaired, not sure if that could stop the lift from working.

The lift is still not working. Does anyone know what my next step would be?

Thank you in advance.

Your tractors rated pressure is 2320 psi.

Is your hyd system open or closed?

In an open center hyd system, fluid is always flowing, and when you move a lever, something should happen or the fluid is passing over the relief valve making a noise, and building heat.

With a closed center hyd system, the flow is variable, and the pressure will be at full pressure or a standby pressure . When you move a lever for use, the pressure rises to the set relief pressure.

I would install a hyd gauge in the flow path and look at the pressure when moving a lever.

Hi, do you have 3 levers on the left, one of them yellow with an angled arm? The yellow one has a detent for like running a hydraulic motor. If that is in the on position it could be the reason for your hissing and it may have priority causing the lift not to function. IIRC that lever was froze up solid on mine and I had a very difficult time getting it off so I could clean and lube the pivot.

There are also 2 oil sumps. The one in the front is for the quick connects and 3-point lift. There is a smaller pump and circuit for everything else including the PTO clutch. That would be the rear sump.

I got my manuals from Carraro USA in California. I would imagine these tractors are much more popular in your neck of the woods.
