I have a TC-40 with the NH "Deluxe" (optional) 3-point linkage, flex ends with push-down clamps on the lift arms. Can you please source me a bracket that keeps the drawbar and attached trailer ball from rotating when being used as a low speed yard tug? Would I need two of these anti-rotating brackets or will just one on one lift arm do the job?

I bought my bracket at a Massey-Ferguson dealer many years ago. I'm just not sure where you can find one now or if it will clear your adjustable link mechanism. Here is a picture of mine on my old Ford NAA. You only need one of these brackets and you could build a similar one easily that will attach to your lift arm and bolt through the hole in the drawbar. I think Soundguy made one that didn't look too pretty, but worked great for him.

Impressive graphics Jim! I saw one of these the other day at TSC and it had a short pin attached to it. Kind of like a real stubby cat 1 pin. Short threads on the other end. Any idea what that would be for?

Maybe the pin was supposed to go through the drawbar to hold it a bit more stable. This bracket lets the drawbar flop a little in the slot and can bang around a bit as you change directions with the tractor.

BTW: I drew those graphics many years ago when someone asked a similar question about how to properly rig a 3ph for pulling a trailer. Notice how the lift arm stays go to the toplink? Notice how they are bowed? You don't want to forget and try to lift your 3PH if you have the stays installed.:D

TSC carries the tisco cat1 and cat 2 drawbar locks.. but they won't fit over flex ends.. my 5000 has a deluxe flex end.. and no-go.

At that point it's almost as cheap to get the a-frame kit that is probably tisco as well, and should be able to be had at a CNH dealer. i paid 20$ for one from my local dealer.. kit is 2 metal brackets that from an a-frame, plus a couple bolts and spacers. bolt the brackets to the 11 hole drawbar and then at the top insert the spacers to keep the tabs apart, and then bolt them.. this gives you a space for the toplink. now just add your trailer ball to the drawbar, and pin the lower arms and 3rd link up and go..

IMHO.. it's better than the regualr drawbar lock.

If you don't like this style.. it's pretty easy to weld up something to work.. I've made a couple locks using rebar and I beam sections and a couple D-clamps

Built it out of 2"x2"x1/4" 90 degree angle stock. The NH drawbar has 11 holes. I centered the hitch ball in the middle and cut the 90 degree stock to fit the left hole just aft of the top link lower connection and over the second hole on the left side of the drawbar. I sawed a wedge angle cut in the flat horizontal section of the 90 degree stock forward of the optional deluxe three point linkage and generously centered it over the factory pre-drilled hole, bent it to the appropiate angle in my vise and my neighbor, a very nice guy, welded it. Suggestion: First set and center your bottom link pins in the drawbar as to eliminate all sway and play before you cut, drill and weld. Cool.

11 holes is the standard drawbar size .. at least for cat 1 anyway.. never checked my cat 2 drawbar..

11 holes is the standard drawbar size ..

So many holes. . . so little time.;) Isn't it curious that there are so many holes in a drawbar and probably 99% of us only use the middle one? I know this is a hijack of this thread, but can anyone ever remember pulling anything on a drawbar where you used anything but the middle hole? Are all those holes a conspiracy to keep hole drillers employed?:D

close.

I keep 2 balls on my 11-hole drawbar that is setup with an a-fram fro towing.. a 1 7/8 and a 2".. the 2"is middle, and the 1 7/8 is offset one space.. but is seldom used.. most of my trailers are the 2"
