Another unusual gate

My wife and I were looking at retirement homes in Hawaii last month. This was the gate to one listing. very impressive home.

My wife's been to Hawaii twice. She'd like to go there with me. She says I'll love it.

If she ever gets the opportunity to get me over there I hope I get to see the gate in person. It's a beaut! I have to wonder about the patina. If it's paint or if the gate is copper and then allowed to rust, er, uh, patina. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Whichever, the color is a big part of the gate and done well.

I've always wanted to do variations of that type of gate. One would be hand forged iron to look like bark with the tapering of branches etc. The other is to use the iron for brances and trunk and stone for leaf clusters. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So many gates, ideas, so little time.................

I expected you would appreciate the gate. I believe it is all copper. I was going to send you the listing but it is sold ($1,200,000) a bargain. It is just North of Hilo on the Big Island. Many fine homes and wonderful ocean views. The only affordable ocean property left in the USA that I know of. I'll pull out my maps and get the name of the road it is a beautiful drive up there.
